Yesterday, my husband Michael and I saw the incredible Esperanza Spalding, who referred to some of her amazing songs as “spells.”
I understood why she called them “spells” because they were magical and healing.
Here’s “12 Little Spells” by Esperanza Spalding.

There are good spells and bad spells. Right now, the USA is under the control of people casting bad spells, which I hope does not spell unrecoverable destruction.
Do you see spells in my images for today?

Thanks to all who are doing their best to cast good spells, including YOU!

I’m going to try to remember to smile at random people when I’m out and about. A smile can work as a spell of blessing all on its own.
When I was in college I had several friends who were Wiccans. One of their core beliefs was that whatever they put out into the world, good or bad, would come back to them. I think Esperanza Spalding is putting a lot of good into the world and I’m glad you’re helping give some of it back.
Today is also the birthday of both Edgar Allan Poe and Dolly Parton. So that’s good too.
I’m all about good spells both coming and going
Life can’t be all bad if you have some peanut brittle in the house to enjoy on National Peanut Brittle Day. Thanks for the reminder! I’ll go get some right now.
