I don’t know what I would do without my buddies, human and feline.
When people who are bad buddies or who are buddy-less have control and power, I especially like to focus on good buddies.
During the first Trump administration, I watched reruns of The Match Game because the panelists seemed like real buddies. During the next Trump administration, I plan to spend less time listening to the news and more time listening to good buddies.

The times I’ve had folks move into my house for a bit, I’ve called them housebuddies. To distinguish them from mates. I’ve had mates, as well, but not all of them were buddies. Buddies share the load. Mates get to acting like they own the place. Some of you are lucky enough to have housemates who are also housebuddies. They’re the best.

Even though it’s described as a “romantic comedy” I think of Bringing Up Baby as a buddy film—Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant developing a surprising friendship. And they do it with the help of a leopard who’s almost as fierce as Joan.
