When I went for my ophthalmology follow up appointment yesterday, I was nervous because of an abnormality that had shown up on a scan of the back of my right eyeball.
Before I went to the appointment I stopped by my own office and took this picture:

.
I felt less nervous when the ophthalmology specialist told me that the abnormality — a “freckle” which had shown up near the optic nerve — had not grown in five months.
Then I was nervous about driving home because my car has been having starting problems and they had dilated my eyes for the appointment.
Which reminds me — when a nervous eye technician came in to ask the doctor a question, “Is it okay for me to dilate a pregnant woman?” I said “Which way?”
Sometime I make jokes when I’m nervous.
I’m still nervous about my car because my mechanic says I should take it to a Honda dealership and I played phone tag with the dealership yesterday.
I’m also nervous about my cardiac device replacement surgery next week and the USA November elections.
Here are the kinds of images I capture when I’m nervous.

.
I may be smiling at the Daily Bitch calendar, but I’m nervous about checking my blood INR reading today, because it needs to be between 2.8 and 3.0 for the surgery next week, and that’s a very small margin.
Do I look nervous when I’m performing this song at a live concert?

I hope you’re not nervous about leaving a comment, below.
Thanks to all who are here for this nervous blog post, including YOU.

I understand your nervousness and anxiety about so many things. I, too, am nervous about the election and I love the quote from David Sedaris. I laughed about you making jokes when nervous. When at the dentist yesterday, and it was painful, I told the dentist when he asked if I needed another numbing shot, “If my hand flies up and hits you in the face, you will know I am in too much pain.” He and the assistant laughed.
Hang in there, I am feeling positive about the November outcome and better things to come for you.
You are helping me be much less nervous, so thank you!!
I know. Impossible to believe it could be so close in places. Are people blind, deaf, memory-impaired, crazy? Just listening to one statement of the man it becomes so evident that he is deranged. As for the starter on your Honda.. I just had the same problem. They replaced the starter button–it turned out to be an easy process as they just plugged in a new one. Problem over.
Your comment helped me be less nervous about many things, although my experience at the Honda dealership was very different from yours (see today’s blog post). Thanks for being there!
I’m leaving for a trip before Election Day and before early voting days in our town, and won’t return till after. I’m nervous that my vote-by-mail ballot won’t arrive before I go.
I hear you, Debbie, and I hope all goes well for you on your trip and in voting!
I’m nervous that I’m making my own eyesight worse by wearing an older prescription, because the frames on my latest prescription snapped and I can’t afford to replace them until next month. Is it eyestrain when you stare at something until it becomes clear, or do you really have to strain to see it? Meanwhile, staving off glaucoma with eye drops. So far, so good.
I understand, Barbara.
I love your song trggers! It is so good!
You always calm my nerves with your comments, Carol Anne!
The picture of your cats is quite the paradox. Though the saying “Nervous as a cat” holds its truth. The real truth is that they impart on us just the opposite. No more relaxed and carefree are those who enjoy the elixer of a sleeping cat upon their laps.
Beware, however, of the sleeping cat who awakes with a start, for the wounds left behind will certainly smart.

Thanks for your wise words, Alan.
the election has everyone nervous I think and it still boggles my mind that it’s even a contest at this point. hopefully Americans will recognize and reward the good people working for us and put them in the White House.
Let’s hope there are enough Americans who agree with us, beth, although I’m nervous about it!
I’m actively working toward a compassionate future with those who will come into power
I’m with you, beth.
You look so relaxed and happy when playing music. Listening to music relaxes me but I get nervous playing it. I keep telling myself I’ll get there, that eventually I’ll find it relaxing. And I believe that which is why I keep doing something that makes me nervous.
It makes me less nervous knowing that we are both playing ukuleles, Chris.
Oooh, I didn’t know that your device replacement surgery was coming up so soon! I hope that goes really well, with as few nerves as possible. I wonder if you will get a song out of it?
You may not be able to answer this but I wonder what they expect you to do if you can’t get your test readings to all land exactly in that narrow range?
Sending peace and energy. Xxx ooo
If the reading wasn’t in range, I would eat more or less spinach and maybe they would adjust my medication. But for now all is good!
I hope the Honda folks can easily fix your car, Ann, easing that anxiety.
Well, Mark, there was more than meets the eye in that saga, as you will see in today’s blog post. As always, thanks for your kind hopes.
