Day 4217: Listening

Rather than listening to the current cacophony of pundits and politicians, I’ve been listening to more comforting sounds.

.

I’ve also been listening to Pema Chôdrôn.

.

Thanks to all who are listening, here and now, including YOU.

  1. Facts and reason, Ann.

Facts and reason (hi, Mark) are all good in their place, but an old saying in politics is, “Campaign in poetry, govern in prose.” I’m afraid that the Republicans are campaigning in “poetry.” Not that there’s anything poetic about TFG’s lies, but the way he lies is practically Shakespearean. The Democrats are campaigning in the prose of facts and reason. We’ve left out the poetry.

  3. Sometimes a friend will tell me something and I’ll ask, “What are you really saying?” Because I can hear they’re trying to say something more but I can’t quite hear what it is.

  4. There is something quite soothing about the photos in this post.
