Day 4207: Voices

Yesterday, on the ferry ride home from work, I was sitting next to two lovely women with lively, warm, British voices. One of them asked me if the ferry was going to the airport and I wasn’t sure, which made all our voices a little shaky for a moment, since they had to catch a plane to return home to London.

The rest of the ride to the airport we used our voices to get acquainted.

That’s Katie and Cara, who had never been in Boston before and were here for an unexpected 24-hour layover because of a plane cancellation.

Cara didn’t have to use her voice to let people know she was celebrating her 40th birthday.

It was so much fun talking to Cara and Katie about Boston, London, Las Vegas, and the Edinburgh Fringe, that I eventually raised my voice to sing them my song “Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole.” The sisters used their voices — even singing along! — to let me know they liked that song a lot.

I believe we will hear each other voices in the future, which makes me happy.

Are there voices in my other images for today?

Here are some voices responding to my performance of “Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole“ at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival:

Thanks to Cara and Katie, Voices of the Waterfront, the voices of my friends on Twitter, and all who use their voices for good, including YOU!

I was relieved yesterday to hear the voice of an old friend – actually an ex – who has been struggling with kidney cancer – had one removed, the other overstressed. He’d been out of touch for a while, and I was worried that he was in bad straits. But he called yesterday to let me know he was a little better and we had a good conversation.

A delightful memory of voices was waking up one morning a couple of years ago, when my daughter was visiting from Seattle, to hear her and her brother talking in the livingroom. Two precious voices in conversation. With laughter.

  2. Your ferry ride with the slightly lost tourists sounds so lovely. I wonder if they will be following your blog now?

  3. I can hear your voice in every post you share, which is why I think I harbor a fondness for your blog.
