So far, I haven’t gotten any responses from my attempt to donate proceeds from my upcoming concert to a local mental health-oriented charity. My responses to that will include more emails, phone calls, and perhaps looking for responses from another worthy cause.
My responses to not getting responses sometimes include disappointment, confusion, discouragement, and second-guessing, but I will keep on keeping on nevertheless. I do notice that it is more difficult to get responses from organizations post COVID — nobody seems to answer the phone these days.
Do you have any responses to my images today?

My responses to today’s holidays and observances have to include sharing my son’s animated and clever responses to “Louie Louie” on YouTube:

Here are some of the responses to Aaron’s “Misheard Lyrics of ‘Louie Louie’” on YouTube:

If one of your responses is wanting to read the New Yorker article cited in those responses, click here.
I wonder what kind of responses I’ll get to this blog post?
Thanks to all who encourage me with their responses, including YOU!

I know what you mean about not getting responses. You’re not asking for a favor or for money; you’re asking to have a generous donation accepted. I’ve noticed it also when I have no-longer-needed supplies to donate; if there’s an official program already in place, fine, I can participate—otherwise, no response (or “no thank you,” 6 months later) to “I’d like to give you stuff.” I guess people and companies are over-busy with other priorities and concerns.
Thanks for this very helpful response, Debbie.
The New Yorker quoted Aaron! They are fans! What a great outcome for a project that he did as a kid. A brilliant kid. And a brilliant project.
I’ve always loved his version and recognized it immediately.
I’m not sure why the mental health organization isn’t responding to your offer to contribute proceeds to them, except that possibly they don’t have enough volunteers to answer the phone or they don’t have volunteers who feel informed in us to answer your question. But all the same, they may like receiving money! In fact, they may be more in need of it than an organization that has paid phone answerers.
It’s very generous of you to donate the proceeds to the organization.
Very soon after I published this blog post, I got a response from the organization! Thanks for all your lovely responses, Maureen.
Washington State came thiiiiiis close to adopting “Louie, Louie” as its state song. 🙂
And I follow favorite writers and others on Blue Sky and Twitter and sometimes comment on what they post. Almost never a response. Well, sometimes from Guy Gavriel Kay. So not never.
I always appreciate your responses, Barbara.
The other night I was driving and “Louie Louie” came on the radio. I couldn’t help responding with Aaron’s version of the lyrics. It feels good that I’m part of a very large community that appreciates what he did.
I love this response and will tell Aaron about this today! Thanks, Chris.
I think that many wonderful organizations are just understaffed and underserved and cannot take on the paperwork, phone tags to connect to others who may be able to help them with donations of time, money, or items. it’s nothing personal, but must feel like that when trying to help and getting no response. glad you didn’t give up and it all worked out well. Aaron’s lyrics are great and how I’ll always think about the song now. I’m looking forward to retiring the end of June and seeing what my next adventure will be.
Your responses are always so wonderful, beth. I hope you love retirement.
I have a strong feeling that I will
