Day 4000: Four thousand

Four thousand days, four thousand blog posts.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, here are four thousand words:

.

Here are another four thousand words, base pictures.

.

My friends! You are all a gift to me, four thousand times over.

On Cat Herders Day, I’ll share that herding my wandering and independent thoughts into a cohesive-enough blog post has been like herding cats, four thousand times. I hope it’s been as valuable (and fun!) for you as it’s been for me.

Here’s a valuable video I found when I searched for “four thousand” on YouTube.

.

Four thousand thanks to everyone who has helped me create four thousand blog posts in four thousand days, including YOU!!!!

  1. wow, huge congrats on the 4,000, ann. here’s to many, many more

  2. I cherish all of these days, Ann. Congratulations on every beautiful photo and thoughtful sentence.

  3. Congratulations Ann! 40000 posts and still going strong, quirky and fabulous 🎉💐🥂🎈🥰

  4. Congratulations on 4000 in 4000!

  5. Debbie Terman

    Amazing dedication! Congrats on 4000.

  6. You are amazing! And 4000 times cooler than the average blog poster! Congratulations!! 💝

  7. 4000…amazing!! Congratulations.

  8. Luis Del Castillo

    Congratulations!!
    here’s for 4000 more!!….and more!!

  9. Great accomplishment. I found you when you were still in the 1100’s, if I recall correctly. I just made my way back to blogging after a six or seven year absence.

  10. Congratulations! I know the commitment that it takes to keep up a blog post, and although I no longer do mine every day, I recently wrote my 1000th one since 2013 and have plans for 1001. It’s amazing how I always seem to find a topic and something to say about it the minute my fingers touch the keyboard, even if I have no idea what it’s going to be. Is that how it works for you? Or do you see something during the day (you often seem to) that feels like an appropriate conversational ball to throw at us the next morning? At any rate, thank you.

  11. Four-thousand posts feel like four thousand gifts you’ve shared with the world. More than that, really, because there are so many gifts embedded in each post you write.

  12. Oops … I may have projected ahead x10. Hoping ill be with you at the next milestone

  13. I’m up to 3797 posts myself, a number barely less believable than your 4000! Congratulations on keeping up to the challenge of posting an always-interesting post!

I keep threatening (myself? my readers?) to take time out from posting, then I remember a sister and a few friends become alarmed when I’ve not posted in past because it always happened when I had emergencies that landed me in hospitals. Those people follow me for assurance I’m OK as much as to find out what my cat’s doing that day!

    • I believe the same is true for me, my friend, and congratulations on that spectacular number!

      • It’s amazing we both keep it up and (mostly in my case) fresh! I bet you, like I, have readers on all continents and scores of countries, too. My cats when I had both Dougy and Andy, were minor international cat celebrities, a fact that boggles my simple mind. Antarctica is the only continent where there isn’t someone following his antics.

  14. Ann, Thank you so much for these 4000 posts. I have journeyed with you for all these years and have benefited greatly from your blog. Above all, I have enjoyed getting to know you. Your take on the world from Boston is now part of my take on the world. I see things a little bit your way everyday. I remember Oscar, I remember some of your big questions and fears, and at times I haven’t known a surprising amount about your socks!

These days I am traveling back and forth between Canada and the US because one of my kids is really struggling, and because of that I sometimes have to catch up on three or four days of your blog at a time. But I still find every post meaningful. Sometimes when I come back to a post to reply (As sometimes I only have time to read them), I notice different photos than I did the first time.

The first year of your blog you called it the year of living non-judgmentally. But it’s could just as easily have been called the year of living inquisitively and compassionately.

Thank you very much for the 4,000 gifts of you.

PS. I have that book and have even read a chunk of it!

  15. p.s. May you double your 4000 posts! I will stick around to read akk of them!
