Day 3938: Embarrassing

It’s embarrassing that in my three thousand, nine hundred, and thirty-eight days of consecutive blogging, I’ve never written a post with the title “embarrassing.”

It saddens me when people describe their all-too-human feelings, thoughts, and behaviors as embarrassing.

Personally, I can find it embarrassing when I

  • don’t get enough sleep,
  • am obviously ailing from something (like an arthritic ankle),
  • get something wrong,
  • seem self-absorbed, or
  • reach out and get no response.

It’s embarrassing how much embarrassment can hold us back.

Do you see anything embarrassing in my images for today?

.

it’s not embarrassing to use lower case to accept my curves on national curves day.

Is it embarrassing that every other source on the Internet states that National Curves Day is the second WEDNESDAY of October, not the second Saturday? If it is embarrassing, it’s not embarrassing for me.

Here’s what I find when I look for “embarrassing” on YouTube:

Embarrassing thanks to all who helped me create this “embarrassing” post, including you!!!

  1. I really don’t get embarrassed easily, and when I do, I try hard to remember that most often, it will all soon be forgotten

  2. I plan to have a fruitful shopping excursion to find a new chest freezer for our basement with my dear wife Karen this morning, no embarrassment included, Ann.

  3. I was going to write something about never being embarrassed, but that’s an embarrassing lie. So many things over the years that I remember saying that embarrass me now. So many things that I should have said but didn’t because I was embarrassed to do so. Today, at 80, I think that’s less true, but then I remember that I am still a little embarrassed when I get an answer to the Washington Post’s daily quiz wrong or miss the boat on Wordle. That’s embarrassing all by itself.

  4. Sometimes I would get embarrassed at work about speaking up when I didn’t know something, but I’d do it anyway. Now I rarely interact with anyone anymore and I find I miss feeling embarrassed.

  5. I can’t remember the last time I was embarrassed, but I remember the first: I was playing my accordion (solo) in a recital. I was about 12 years old. Half way through the number, my mind went blank and I couldn’t remember the next notes. Embarrassed, I sat down and cried! Don’t think I’ve been more embarrassed since then! Never happened again to me.

I’ve felt humiliated but not embarrassed.
