For whatever reason, I’ve been thinking a lot about snubs lately, especially the reported snubs of a very successful actor.

.
An article I read last week lamenting the surprising snubs by the Emmy awards of Harrison Ford for his role as an elderly therapist in Shrinking led me to watch that series, and now I can’t stop thinking about the snubs. That’s how good he was in it. Also, I’m surprised about the snubs he’s getting from the world as people are staying away in droves from the latest and last Indiana Jones movie, which I really enjoyed.
I wonder whether these snubs are related to the fact that Harrison Ford is 80 years old, because older people experience so many snubs.
I’ve been so concerned about Harrison Ford’s feelings about these snubs that I have to keep reminding myself that he is most likely not thinking about them at all.
In the meantime, I dreamed last night that I got snubs from many people when I performed my original songs for them. Somebody I know said, “These songs are NOT good” as she walked out in disgust. I tried to get the rest of the audience to stay, but the responses were all snubs.
The reality is that we learn to survive snubs, including internalized biases like ageism, sexism, racism, Anti-Semitism, and homophobia. And the more we put ourselves out there, the more snubs we’ll encounter.
And I’m pretty sure that Harrison Ford is okay.
Do you see snubs in any of my images for today?

Today’s Daily Bitch is all about snubs and here’s what I find when I search YouTube for “snubs.”

Thanks to all who help me deal with snubs, including YOU.

Wondering if I missed the post where you told us why Joan always wears a leash outside and Harley apparently does not. Does one or the other of them feel snubbed?
Harley isn’t interested in going out and Joan is. I won’t let her go out without a leash because of the traffic and coyotes around here! I hope neither of them feel snubbed.
I doubt that they would, Ann. Just curious. And made a little effort to relate it to snubbery. Thank you for the prompt reply. 🙂
Thanks for relating!
I think that we often tend to overthink snubs vs. how many are really felt by others. I think we’re all sensitive to it and we don’t want others to feel that way, because everyone’s been snubbed at time or another in their life and we know how it feels.
I always appreciate your thoughts, beth.
I often notice actors who seem to have made a career out of cameo roles and I wonder if they feel snubbed or if they enjoy the freedom of relative anonymity and not being tied to a particular role. Some, like Robert Picardo, seem to have one standout role before disappearing again—though there’s still a chance he’ll do something else that gets him the same recognition as the holographic doctor on Star Trek: Voyager.
I think anyone who goes into acting, though, no matter how successful they become, knows it’s a profession with hits and misses.
I think you’re right, my friend, and thanks.
Great observation by the Count about 123123. Love it.
I thought you would love that, Debbie!
Seeing Joan enjoying her time out on her leash always makes me smile, Ann.
I always enjoy my time with you, my friend.
I’m glad to see Joan’s candidacy back on track
and that is no snubbing!
I’m glad to see you!
