Day 3847: Happy Toss Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day!

I would be happy if we could all toss away the “could haves” and “should haves” and other regrets about the past.

Perhaps I could have and should have started today’s blog post with this:

.

As I’m throwing away my list of “could haves” and “should haves,” here are my other images for today.

.

I have strong opinions about how “could haves” and “should haves” get in the way of our living in the moment.

Here’s what I find when I search for “could haves and should haves” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are celebrating a happy Thow Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day with me, including YOU!

Day 3500: This is why we can’t have nice things

Whenever our nice cats scratch, barf, or otherwise wreak havoc on something we own, my nice husband Michael says, “See, Ann? This is why we can’t have nice things.” It’s nice that Michael and I agree that cats are nicer than things.

A few days ago I saw and shared this nice cartoon from the New Yorker:

.

It’s nice to know that Michael isn’t the only one who says that.

Do you see nice things in my other images for today?

.

My late parents, whom I greatly respect, were very nice and they liked cats more than things, too.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “this is why we can’t have nice things.”

.

Now I need to put on some nice things to go and work in-person at the hospital.

Thanks to all my nice readers, including YOU!

Day 3290: The story of us

The story of today’s blog post starts with this photo that I snapped yesterday at the supermarket:

I took that when my husband Michael and I (who recently had our second wedding anniversary) were doing our weekly food shopping. The story of us at that supermarket was our wearing N95 masks because of the Omnicron variant while many people (including those who worked at the supermarket) were not wearing any masks at all .

The story of us human beings has to include our working together to survive pandemics and global warming without destroying the stories of too many other species.

The story of us is a very anxiety-provoking story these days.

Do you see the story of us in my other images for today?

The story of us often includes our trying to read each other’s minds (a common human cognitive distortion, described here), but I cannot even try to read the minds of people who don’t wear masks in supermarkets.

Here’s “The Story of Us” by Taylor Swift.

The story of me today includes my going in to the hospital to listen to other people’s stories in therapy sessions. I’ll be doing my best to stay safe so I can continue the story of us in this daily blog.

The story of us always includes my gratitude for all who follow my story here, including YOU.

Day 1949: Made you look

I don’t like making people do anything.  I prefer creating a space — in group therapy and elsewhere —  where people have and make choices.

I don’t like being made to do anything, either. However, this sign made me look.

See what I did there?  I made you look and this IS even a screen.

Shall I make you look at more photos from yesterday?

I realize I made you look at those photos without explaining what I did yesterday, which included

  • working on my first original song,  titled “I Don’t Like You,”
  • facilitating a therapy group where we looked at what scares us and what makes us feel safer,
  • getting a flat tire on my way to visit a dying and beloved friend,
  • asking for help from a nearby gas station,
  • looking at the nail they removed from my tire,
  • looking more closely at the inside of my car and realizing it was past time to clean it,
  • visiting my friend (not pictured),
  • enjoying the first summer-like day of the year, and
  • eating another delicious meal by Michael, al fresco.

I didn’t make you look at a definition of “al fresco;” I just included a link if anybody needed it.

Creating this post made me look for a music video on YouTube and this is what I found:

Looking at that cover of a Taylor Swift song made me understand why Juli at work suggested that I send my original song to Taylor Swift.

If you made me look at comments about this post, I wouldn’t mind.

In conclusion,

See what I did there? I made you look at my thanks to all who helped me create this post and — of course! — to YOU.
