Day 3987: You’ll be missed

“You’ll be missed” is something my husband Michael says when we’re discussing the frustrations of dealing with bureaucracies and bad customer service.

Here’s an example:

Me: My drum teacher didn’t show up for my first lesson and when I contacted several people in the company to complain and explain what I needed, nobody did anything! I’m never going to use Guitar Center again.

Michael: You’ll be missed.

That phrase, for me, sums up the frustration and helplessness of dealing with uncaring entities. They’re not going to miss me, at all.

And that hurts. Why won’t they miss me? Is there something about me that doesn’t matter? Would Guitar Center miss me if I was somebody else, like a more effectively assertive man or a known musician?

No matter where I’ve worked, I’ve gone out of my way to let the customers/clients/patients know that they WOULD be missed if they decided to leave. So why can’t others do the same for me?

Well, as a wise person I miss once told me, “Don’t expect you from them.”

You’ll be missed if you leave this blog, with images like these:

You’ll be missed — the Daily Bitch.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “you’ll be missed.”

You’ll be missed if you don’t share thoughts and feelings, below, and thanks to all who help me believe that I would be missed, including YOU!

Day 2153: I’m a ______, not a __________.

I’m a Star Trek fan, not a collector, and I recognized Dr. Leonard McCoy’s trademark phrase on a glass at a Thanksgiving celebration yesterday.

I’m a psychotherapist, not a doctor, and I recognize that it’s important how we define ourselves by what we are and what we are not.

I’m a blogger, not a bricklayer, and here are the other photos I took yesterday:

I’m an amateur photographer, not a graphic designer, so click on any of the above photos if you want to see them better.

I’m a questioner, not an answerer (for now), so can you identify what people were and weren’t at that Thanksgiving celebration yesterday, just by looking at those pictures?

I’m a music fan, not a professional musician and I’m sharing Elvis Presley singing two things he is (here and here) and one thing he is not (here).

I’m a curious person, not a pushy one, so might you please share something you are and something you are not in a comment, below?

I’m a grateful human being, not an ungrateful one, so thanks to Michael’s siblings who hosted Thanksgiving celebrations, Elvis Presley, Star Trek, everyone else who helped me create today’s blog post and — of course! —  YOU.
