Day 4898: Worrying

I try to reduce my worrying (because worrying never helps), but there are so many worrying trends in my country.

I’m not worrying about providing any examples of these worrying trends, because I think they’re obvious.

Sometimes I’ll take a break from worrying about the USA and I’ll say to another worrying human, “This is not sustainable. Things have to get better.” The worrying person often reacts like they’re still worrying.

However, I’m glad to report that I am not worrying about my health, my music, my work, my family, my friends, my cats, traveling, aging, my appearance, or my images for today.

.

I’m not worrying whether anybody noticed that I shared this …

… on National Smile Day.

Here’s what I find when I search for “worrying” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for this worrying post, including YOU!

Day 4828: National Donald Day

Today is National Donald Day.

.

This is NOT a fun observance today, strictly because of a “world leader” named Donald.

When I saw what that Donald had said about the death of Robert Mueller, I asked this question on Twitter.

.

For my own sanity, I have to remember that there are other more mature, less destructive Donalds in the world, like this one:

.

Here are my other images for National Donald Day.

.

As I mentioned in my interview on the Therapist Uncensored podcast, I named Donald in my song “Shameless Appeals for Applause.”

.

Next weekend, I’ll be joining with millions of other human beings trying to stop that Donald, again, in No Kings protests.

Thanks to all who are here for this National Donald Day post, including YOU!

Day 4765: Observance

Because of my observance of my own rules of daily blogging, I wanted to start today’s post with a good definition of “observance.”

I wish more people were practicing observance of law and morality in the USA, so I’ll start with this one.

.

This definition includes an important, additional meaning of “observance.”

.

Now it’s time for observance of my other images for today.

.

On this World Religion and Gentleness Awareness Day, I’m going to practice observance of my anti-burnout rules for weekends: NO WORK!

Here’s what I find when I look for “observance” on YouTube:

.

I look forward to your observance about this post in the comments section, below.

I will end this blog post with another daily observance: gratitude!

Day 4723: Emptiness

Last night, when I couldn’t sleep, I listened to this video about emptiness:

.

I appreciate the idea that emptiness (like silence) holds a place for possibility.

I’m hoping that the muscle relaxant I took last night will silence the annoying clicking noises I hear whenever I talk.

There will be emptiness and possibility in today’s blog post.

.

Thanks to all who are here for this emptiness post, including YOU!

Day 3869: Keeping up

Keeping up gets more challenging as we age, as I’m finding to be true in my 70s.

These days, I’m working on keeping up with all my new followers on the social media site Threads, who apparently want to be keeping up with our cat Joan.

We’re also keeping up with our ongoing home-owning repairs. And, I’m keeping up with my wish to get a nice photo of me with my husband and my son for my 50th reunion class report.

Will you be keeping up with today’s photos?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “keeping up” on YouTube (in addition to countless videos about “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”).

.

I’ll be keeping up with your comments, below.

Thanks to all who are keeping up with me, including YOU!

Day 3744: Money

Because I pay money to the New York Times, yesterday they sent me an email about money:

Here is a quote from that NYT article about money:

Try not to repress the emotions that come up as you read these quotes about money.

I love blogging and after ten years, the money has yet to follow.

Do you see money (or other things of value) in my images for today?

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for money.

Here’s another money song from the Beatles.

.

Thanks to all who give me riches more valuable than money, including YOU!

Day 3633: How it ends

I’ve been watching “The White Lotus,” written and directed by Mike White, and I was surprised and impressed by how it ends.

I’m reading A Moment After Dark” by my friend Janet and I am eager to see how it ends.

Now that I’ve started sharing my images for today’s blog post, let’s see how it ends.

The Daily Bitch is also focusing on how it ends.

Here’s how it ends when I search YouTube for “how it ends.”

If you’ve visited my blog before, you know how it ends — with gratitude for YOU.

Day 3597: How things are going to turn out

As much as I try to appreciate and dwell in the precious current moment, it’s hard not to wonder and worry about how things are going to turn out.

When focusing on how things are going to turn out interferes with my ability to appreciate the present, I redirect my attention, over and over again, to being here, now.

Nevertheless, I do wonder how things are going to turn out today, tomorrow, and on Election Day this Tuesday. I worry about how things are going to turn out for my son Aaron and future generations. I hope Americans turn out in record numbers to vote this time.

I don’t know how the future will turn out, but I do know how things turned out yesterday for me, because I

  • got my hair cut by the fabulous Mia,
  • went for a beautiful walk with my beautiful friend Barbara,
  • spent time with other humans and cats I love,
  • had delicious food, and
  • made some final decisions about the repair work to our home.

Let’s see how this blog post turns out, shall we?

.

It turns out I found this on YouTube when I searched for “how things are going to turn out saxophone.”

.

Thanks to all who helped me turn out another daily blog post, including YOU!!!!

Day 3506: Making a difference

This bumper sticker …

… inspired me to ask a question on Twitter last night about making a difference.

That question is getting fewer responses than my last questions of the day usually do, but I still hope it’s making a difference, even if it’s a small one.

It actually doesn’t make a difference to me what level of engagement my questions have on Twitter but it does pique my curiosity: Why is that question having a different level of responses? My best guess is that my Twitter followers are modest and unsure about the differences they are making. My work as a group therapist (which is how I would have answered my own question about making a difference) has taught me that people often make a difference well beyond their awareness.

Are any of my images today making a difference?

I’m relieved that the delicious ricotta gnocchi with pesto sauce from my favorite local Italian restaurant is not making a difference in my weight loss goal. We’ll see if the National Days for August 7 will be making a difference for anyone.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “making a difference.”

I also find this …

… this…

… and this:

.

Thanks to all those who are making a difference, including YOU!

Day 3460: Creative

Yesterday, because it was National Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day, I tweeted this:

.

I don’t know how you feel about Mac & Cheese ice cream but how creative are the rest of my images for today?

.

I think The Daily Bitch is very creative.

There are many creative people on YouTube.

.

I look forward to your creative comments, below.

Thanks to all the creative people who help me create these daily blog posts, including YOU!
