There have been so many disruptions lately — personally and globally — that I’m finding it helpful to focus on going with the flow.
Last night, when I woke feeling very agitated about these disruptions, I calmed myself down by listening to this:
.
After that first story about literally going with the flow, I came up with a useful image to help me navigate rocky waters. I accessed an old memory of floating down a big, beautiful river in Georgia with a sense of safety and joy. When I think of the weeks ahead, I’m imagining sitting in an inner tube as the river of life rushes and slows, straightens and turns. I can’t control the river, but I can relish the ride. For company, I’ve got my younger self perched on my lap as we survive this together.
Do you see going with the flow in my images for today?

.
Thanks to all who are along for the ride as I’m going with the flow, including YOU!

Your comment about sitting with your younger self reminds me of the short videos that pop into my Facebook feed showing cast members of various TV shows—then and now. Each character is (presumably) AI-drawn as they looked on the show (sometimes decades ago) and is then joined by the AI-drawn actor as they look now (or if they’re deceased, they’re wearing gigantic white wings, and the image and text indicate their age when they died). Have you seen those?
I have seen them!
I think it’s really all we can do, we can’t change some of what’s happening, but we can change what we do with our responses. not let it take us down too. that is our personal rebellion
I always appreciate where you are going, beth.
Anybody remember the old Perry Como song that goes:
I’m just breezin’ along with the breeze
Trailing the rails, I’m a roamin’ the seas
Like the birdies that sing in the trees
Pleasin’ to live, livin’ to please
Even though I’m a long time Deadhead, seems the only songs that come to mind around the house are from my kidhood. This is one of ’em. Bing Videos
Thanks for sharing, Barbara! 🎶
I’m with you, I’m simply going with the flow, hurrah!
Yay for us, Carol Anne!
The first time I tried meditation I had a panic attack. When you described imagining yourself floating down a river in Georgia it reminded me that to be able to relax I had to mentally put myself in a place where I felt safe, a wooded area I know well. I think it helps to remember that going with the flow doesn’t always come easily.
Thanks for the helpful flow of your comments, Chris.
