Day 4735: Making meaning

One way I’ve been making meaning of human behavior is to remember that people want to be making meaning, even with the inexplicable and the meaningless.

No matter what’s happening, people would rather be making meaning than accepting randomness and the unknown.

Lately, I’ve been making meaning by deciding that some people are just mean.

.

How are you making meaning of that?

Now I’ll be making meaning by organizing and sharing these images for today.

I’m having trouble making meaning of this unexpected increase in people listening to my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me.”

.

Now I’ll be making meaning by searching YouTube for “making meaning.”

I really appreciate how Dr. Melissa Red Hoffman is making meaning there.

Thanks to all who help me in making meaning, including YOU.

People make meaning by telling stories. Currently many people are telling the Hanukkah story and the Christmas story. Some of us have been telling stories about ourselves here and elsewhere online. Or to friends. Remembering family stories with families. Somewhere in a museum there is a small piece of baked clay with cuneiform figures telling us that someone owes him 10 shekels. While looking up cuneiform translations, I came across this in the Wiki: An ancient Mesopotamian poem gives the first known story of the invention of writing:

Because the messenger’s mouth was heavy and he couldn’t repeat [the message], the Lord of Kulaba patted some clay and put words on it, like a tablet. Until then, there had been no putting words on clay.

    — Enmerkar and the Lord of Aratta, c. 1800 BC[5]

    The greatest story ever told???

  4. Trump is an idiot! What good is getting rid of the green card lottery? I mean if someone is a bad person, whether they get a green card or not, they’ll still be a bad person, I know he’s stopping them from coming into the USA, but he’s also stopping millions of upstanding people, good citizens, from entering America!

  5. Some folks act mean as their default, Ann. Sigh.
