One of my assumptions is that assumptions are often wrong, and yet I keep making assumptions.
Yesterday, my wrong assumptions included the following:
- Bluetooth wasn’t working on my new phone,
- I couldn’t use my old phone to blog (or do anything I need besides using it as an actual phone to make and receive calls),
- My new combination-lock locker at work wouldn’t work,
- Every day that I eat healthy and exercise I would lose a little weight, and
- The people in control of the USA government couldn’t get any more heinous than they already were.
My assumptions include the assumption that I will keep making assumptions. I will keep working to remain open to the fact that many of my assumptions are wrong.
Do you see any assumptions in my images for today?

.
My assumption is that my cat would be embarrassed if I put clothes on her.
Here’s what I find when I search for “assumptions” on YouTube:
.
That TED talk supported many of my assumptions.
Thanks to all who are here for my assumptions, including YOU!

I assume the cement impressionist left with grimy hands and feet, Ann. That makes me feel icky.
I didn’t assume that would make you feel icky, my friend!
That teacher who responded to you on Twitter saying he tells students how on the day he attempted suicide, he met his future wife…has a very moving and helpful story. And it reminds me of my favourite Ann song
My assumption is that you will make a wonderful comment , Maureen, and that assumption is always right!
Sometimes assumptions can be dangerous. A couple of weeks ago I was determined to mop the hallway, but just as I was about to do so my son went into the bathroom and I heard the shower running. Oh, I assumed. When he’s done in there, he’ll just go across the hall to his bedroom to get dressed. So I mopped from the kitchen to before the bathroom door, thinking that when he was out of the way I could continue to my own bedroom door at the end of the hall. But Oh, No. Instead, he came out of the bathroom in his bathrobe and took one big step down the wet hallway toward the kitchen. All I heard was a loud thump! Luckily, he landed on his ass and banged one shoulder on the wall. He complained about a sore shoulder a couple of times, but to my amazement he did not rub it in. He did assure me a couple of days later, when I told him I was going in to take a shower, that he had no plans to mop the floor while I was in there. Whatta guy! 🙂
What a story, Barbara!
I have to ask. Do you come up with these ideas and then go looking for examples of images to go along with them? Do you take the pictures the day you are writing the blog? Or do you take the pics and save them for the appropriate blog? Everything always matches so well, but i know how difficult it can sometimes be to find just the right image for the topic. You amaze me!
Thank you, Claudia! Actually, I just take pictures intuitively and then, the next day, decide what I want to write about. Somehow, it all works out.
I had to give a talk at work a couple of weeks ago. I used some Far Side cartoons as illustrations and had some lines I assumed would make people laugh. I was wrong. I wish I’d quoted Rip Taylor and yelled “This is it, folks, I don’t dance!”
My assumption, Chris, is that I would have really enjoyed your talk.
I try to never assume things, because just when I do, bingo, I remember why I don’t !))
Bingo, beth!
