Day 4475: Amazing

Italy is so amazing that it’s difficult to say goodbye, so I’ll say “arrrivederci” instead.

Here is my last round of amazing images from this trip.

I look forward to seeing my amazing husband and cats later today.

And before I end today’s post, here’s one more amazing fish pun:

Thanks to all who have been here with me on this amazing trip, including YOU!

I will walk a mile (and did) to see a Caravaggio! One of the most amazing painters of the Renaissance. Thank you for sharing more of them! I did not get to the Palazzo Barberini – I seem to remember it was uphill from where I was thinking about it and I had already walked all over Rome. I also remember looking longlingly at the Baths of Caracalla, visible in the near distance from another stopping point, and deciding that my feet would not take me there either. It was on my list because of the Three Tenors concert that was given there, and I was certain some magic must remain! 🙂 I think I did walk most of the length of the Via della Corso and discovered another Roman church with a shrine to St. Olaf just inside. Tickled my Norwegian Lutheran roots a little, even though my understanding is that Olaf actually was a genuine asshole. I may have slipped a coin in the bucket for luck. Welcome home, Ann. A truly amazing journey!

  3. what a wonderful trip you had! hope you are renewed and refreshed!

  4. It amazes me that Judith beheading Holofernes was such a popular subject in Renaissance art and yet seems to be mostly forgotten now. Da Vinci was commissioned to paint Judith but, as with so many of his commissions, he got distracted by other things. When I look at what he did create I’m not amazed he could get away with failing to deliver commissions.

    • It’s amazing to me that I got to see paintings by Caravaggio AND Leonardo and so much more. Breathtaking.
