I had expectations about finally making it to Italy with friends — that the food, the company, and the art would meet high expectations and so far, so great.
Yesterday, I told my friends that I try to lower my expectations for every experience and that way I’m pleasantly surprised.
Sometimes my expectations are based on worst cast scenarios; sometimes they’re based on something that has rarely happened.
Sometimes experiences are beyond my expectations. For example, I had no expectation that my first meal in Italy would include pizza with French fries on it.
I wonder what expectations you might have for today’s blog post.

.
I had expectations for the awesomeness of Roman churches, cathedrals and basilicas and here’s a video about the basilica of St. Mary Major, which we wandered into yesterday.

I don’t know if you have expectations about the comments in YouTube about this video, but here they are:

.
I wonder if I’m exceeding your expectations by including another video about the Basilica of St. Mary Major:
Thanks to all who are here for this expectations post, including YOU.

Lovely sights and so interesting, Ann!
Thank you, my interesting friend.
ooh, the food is just wonderful looking, as I imagined!
It was wonderful looking and tasting, beth!
I am glad you were able to find spinaci!
Despite my expectations, it was not that easy to find in that form, so it was wonderful to find it! And, of course, it’s always wonderful to find you here, Maureen.
I was on a tight food budget in Rome, and being alone did not need to order several dishes, so in a restaurant near my hotel, every night I had an order of pasta with parmesan and pepper, with a glass of wine. Much like that pictured above. Perfect. I stayed near the Piazza del Popolo. Piazza del Popolo – Wikipedia
Good to know, my friend!
Like you I often lower my expectations for my own experiences but I had high expectations for your trip to Italy and I’ve been overjoyed at how well it’s going for you. I hope it will continue.
I was overjoyed with Italy and I’m overjoyed with you, Chris.
Ann, if you’re still in Rome, you must vistit the Ghetto in the Trastevere region. I am very familiar with Rome, and Castel Sant’ Angelo, and Piazza della Trinita. I hope you are having a good time.
I’ll just have to go back!
