I think names are important. I try to make sure that I spell and pronounce all names correctly.
Names have also been in the news lately. For example, he-who-shall-not-be-named renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America and nameless cowards are actually going along with this.
What names do you see in my images for today?

.
Here’s what I find when I search for “names” on YouTube.

I hope the name PBS is still recognizable four years from now.
Thanks to all who helped me create this “names” blog post, including YOU!

I’m wondering who comes up with the names for Daily Holidays???
Good question.
Good move, Joan.
Good comment, Mark.
Names sometimes insist on themselves. Gulf of America, for instance, just doesn’t have the same resonance as Gulf of Mexico. Maybe some folks will insist on it, but I notice that even in House Hunters, people look for places “on the Gulf.” So I guess it will still be a Gulf, however that is defined. And X, no matter how much Elon insists on it, remains Twitter for many (most?) of us, although sometimes I call it X-Twitter, which it is. I love my own name, since Barbara seems to come from Barbarian, which I like to think of as more rebel than Viking, although I do love that the Normans had a special prayer to protect them from my ancestors. Now, how to make the Democrats roar like barbarian vikings. There’s a mission!
Thanks for naming all this, fierce Barbara.
Your new sofa is attractive and it goes well with the table behind it. I am sure that Harley and Joan will love curling up on it.
Your comments always go well with this blog, my friend.
a rose by any other name…
That’s what I was thinking, beth.
Inane Message Answering Day reminds of me the day back in 2004 when I left a bunch of silly messages on a friend’s answering machine making up promos for fake fall TV shows. I miss answering machines and being able to laugh about such unimportant things.
Thanks for this very ane message, my friend.
