Day 4199: Next to Normal

Yesterday, I saw the musical Next to Normal, starring my singing teacher Shereé Marcelle, for the second time. This time, I brought my good friend Deb, who was profoundly affected by the musical and the performers.

.

Do you see anything that seems next to normal in my images for today?

.

The Daily Bitch is always next to normal.

Here’s a video about the Central Square Theatre production of Next to Normal.

Thanks to all who are here for this next-to-normal post, including YOU.

  1. nice idea for a show, so timely, as for the alley cats association, hope the undertaker gets there first, they’d make a meal of you, cheers…hope the smile is widening, find a president day, how about that for an idea!

  2. Thank you for teaching me about our world, Ann.

  3. I love the name and premise of the play – I think we are all next to normal in some ways. what is normal, anyway?

  4. I would love to see that musical!

I consider myself somewhat next to normal, in that I generally refrain from using the F word in “polite society”, unless as a quote or something relevant. 🙂 My daughter and I refer to “polite society” as “normies,” by which we mean people who likely have never smoked, drank, or ran around, did drugs, swear as a matter of course, known or been an addict, and who consider people who actually did these things as potential besties. What I have found, however, is that “polite society” has often had more experience with these things than an outward appearance suggests, and so I have learned to try to give everyone a chance to become a friend to one degree or another. 🙂

I learned that there is a whole branch of my mother’s ancestors who settled in Memphis, Tennessee and I had no idea until a distant cousin contacted me (through a genealogy database) with the info.

  7. My great-great grandmother on my father’s side could recite the stories of all of Shakespeare’s plays. I believe she would have liked Next To Normal.
