Day 4184: Community Standards

Yesterday, after 10 years of my publishing this daily blog on my Facebook page, Facebook deleted my post about resentment and sent me a message about how it went against their “community standards.”

Letting go of resentment about Facebook’s capriciously punitive community standards (which I appealed), I turned my attention to the very different community standards of Cambridge’s Central Square.

As you can see, the community standards of Central Square include amazing murals.
This mural’s artist, Curtis a/k/a Curtistic, proudly identified himself and told me it was his birthday!

I appreciate the community standards in several of today’s holidays, including Family Awareness Day. On this Wish Fulfillment Day, my wish is that this post will not violate Facebook’s community standards, but my suspicion is that it will.

Here’s what I find when I search for “community standards” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who share my community standards, including YOU!

  1. I was marked by Facebook in some odd way, about a year ago, warning readers about the dubious nature of my site. there is now an ‘I’ marking on it, for friends to read the information that it might not be me or it was something nefarious before they read it. it was a blog post about popcorn. I

  2. Facebook has bigger issues than resentful you on its plate, Ann. Yikes.

Maybe someone from FB will explain exactly which standard they think you’ve violated.

    • According to the message I got from them, they thought I was posting Spam in a deceptive way, which I was not. I haven’t heard back from my appeal, but the same thing did not happen with today’s post, which was a relief.

Good grief! Somehow too many of us have pissed off the social media gods. FB rapped your knuckles and ExTwitter won’t let me in – not a misuse issue. I just logged off to fix something and seem to have forgotten all my passwords for logging back in. Someone is supposed to contact me about the issue, but the only thing I have heard so far is an email asking me to rate their helpfulness with my issue. Funny/not funny.

Ann – since I think you see my ExTwitter tweets, could you tell me what my avatar is there? That is, they want to know – oh damn, I forget the word – but it will be something starting with @. I thought it was @Barbara, but I guess it’s not. They do seem to recognize my email and password. ?????

    • Barbara, your ID is @barbarastoner. I hope that helps!

I’ll try again tomorrow. Thanks. Now, who keeps answering with “You might want to go see what they’re up to!”? See below. Of course, it’s never an actual reply that I see on here.

I’m in. Thanks for helping. Sorry about loading your comments up with that hacker crap. That comment never actually appears on your page. But the bot uses your tiger avatar. And there doesn’t seem to be a way to block it. It’s just a minor annoyance after all. Just one more thing to delete.

      • No need to apologize and I’m glad you’re back on Twitter.

I have been getting this reply nearly every day lately. Has this account been hacked?

You might want to go see what they’re up to! Perhaps you will like their blog as much as they liked yours.

  6. I think that Facebook is playing around with AI. But there are a little short on the I.

  7. Facebook doesn’t know what it’s doing. But I’m really fascinated by the element paintings. Is the painter using every element? We’ve organized the community of elements into boxes and lines but there are so many other ways to see the way they make up the world.

    • I believe there were six paintings about the elements. They were on the side of a building where I used to see concerts back in the 70s and 80s. I wanted to see how the community had changed since then and was glad to discover those paintings and share some here.

  8. I wish FB would be more concerned about some of the REAL absurd, insane, untruthful stuff that gets posted!!
