I recently had a perplexing and distressing experience on Facebook, which got me thinking about bots.
Are we surrounded by bots? How do we know the difference between bots and people?
Also, how do you know that I’m not a bot? Would a bot share thoughts and images about bots?

I’m assuming that bots generate those daily lists.
Here’s what I find when I search for “bots” on YouTube.
.
Thanks to all the bots, humans, and cats who helped me create this blog post, including YOU!

I am prepared today to receive birthday greetings from all and sundry, peeps and bots alike. Just turned 81, which seems a tad unreal. Don’t feel a day over 60.
Happy birthday, Barbara!
Zooming through the pandemic made me very comfortable interacting with people online and even forming friendships with some I’ve never met, spoken to, or even seen.
You are not alone, Debbie!
I’m not a bot fan, nor am I a bot, just for the record.
It’s very clear that you are not a bot, beth.
I’m glad we met and that I know you’re not a bot and you know I’m not a bot. I hope. I have an internet friend who’s been quiet lately and I mentioned that I thought about him and hoped he was okay. He said “Thanks for thinking of me” which I don’t think a bot would say.
I’m grateful for humans like you, Chris.
Sorry to hear you got tangled up in a bout with a bot, Ann. Damn scammers.
Thanks for caring ‘bot me, Mark.
Bots are everywhere now, it would seem! I remember when it was just a rare thing to encounter one online, now you do that all the time!
Glad you’re here, Carol Anne!
