Day 3788: Still

Since watching it the day it came out last Friday, I’m still thinking about Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.

Here’s a quote from the NPR review of Still by Eric Deggans:

The word “still” has so many meanings and the movie Still evokes all of them.

Michael J. Fox, by his own report, was never able to keep still when he was growing up. He is still living with a disease that makes it impossible for his body to keep still. His wife, Tracy Pollan, is still incredibly honest and wonderful and all his family members still support each other lovingly. While Parkinson’s is unstoppably degenerative, still, Michael J. Fox is living his best possible life.

I still have other still images to share with you before I start my work (which I still love) in 30 minutes.

I’m still hoping for peace, so I shall wear purple today.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “still.”

I still have to thank all those who helped me create this “still” blog post, including YOU!

  1. Looks like that is a great movie!

  2. Luis Del Castillo

    Great Twitter question Ann!!
I’m going to go ahead and answer it here: mine was “Framptom Comes Alive” in cassette, my cousin had it in vinyl and I played it to death, my parents got me a small one speaker cassette player and that was the first music I had

  3. The Grateful Dead are still my favorite band. Ripple is still a favorite song:
    “Ripple in still water
Where there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow.”

  4. what a great human being he is – and I can’t wait to see the movie. I’m still hoping for peace too and I am still an optimist.

  5. I’m still amazed by how much success Michael J. Fox has had and yet he retains a humility that has nothing to do with his struggle with Parkinson’s; I think it’s just who he is. I also still have a sea monkey kit someone gave me years ago, and I’m still thinking about sitting it on the windowsill so I can watch it while I work.

  6. We watched “Still” the other night and I was overcome by emotion in several segments. I’m likely to watch it again, and I don’t do that very often. 😉

  7. You Still take beautiful landscapes, and that is Aesculus hippocastanum, or the Horse Chesnut Tree, aka the Anne Frank tree

  8. I still remain an admirer of Michael’s work and life all these decades later, Ann, feeling like I grew up with him in many ways.

  9. Alan and I watched Still last night. We were very impressed with it and moved by it. And we agree that it didn’t portray him as a victim in any way. He is remarkable. But I wish wish wish that something could help him keep from falling and breaking bones!
