Is it antisocial to think, every once in a while, “I’m so done with everyone and everything”?

Here’s a definition of “antisocial” I found on social media:
an·ti·so·cial
/ˌan(t)ēˈsōSHəl,ˌanˌtīˈsōSHəl/
adjective1. contrary to the laws and customs of society; devoid of or antagonistic to sociable instincts or practices.
“a dangerous, unprincipled, antisocial type of man”
Similar:
objectionable
offensive
beyond the pale
unacceptable
unsocial
asocial
distasteful
disruptive
disorderly
lawless
rebellious
sociopathic
2. not sociable; not wanting the company of others.
I would say that, sometimes, I’m not wanting the company of others, especially if they’re objectionable, offensive, beyond the pale, unacceptable unsocial, asocial, distasteful, disruptive, disorderly, lawless, rebellious, or sociopathic.
Does that make me antisocial?
Let’s see what my Daily Bitch Calendar says:

Are these other photos antisocial?

Even on days when I’m feeling a little antisocial, I also feel anti-antisocial or, more simply, social.

I don’t want to seem antisocial, but I need to end this antisocial post in order to get to work on time.
Before I do, here’s some antisocial music.
I’m never too antisocial to express my thanks to all who help me create and share this daily blog, including YOU.

Such good humour as always
Thanks to your good humour, Alex, I feel less antisocial!
Some more antisocial music

Thank you for more antisocial music !!
Some days I would say I am more non-social than others, Ann, for sure.
I’m just glad when you’re social enough to visit here, my friend.
I love your posts! I think sometimes, breaking the norms of society can help us to take care of what is important to us. A random question that occurred to me as I was reading this post was “What moods or emotions would lead to us wanting to be antisocial?” Upon reflecting on this, I decided that there are quite a few that close us to social interaction. My interpretation is that our moods and emotions are there for a reason and so if the mood that emotion that you are in is predisposing you to being antisocial, it is probably taking care of something within you. With that in mind, an assessment that I hold for myself is that when being antisocial is serving me, then that’s fine. If it is not serving me, then it might be useful to make a shift. I think I was a bit antisocial tonight. There was a lot of noise in my house and my mind needed calm, so I laid on my bed for a couple of hours, taking in some quiet. Thank you for another great post!
I love your writing !
I love the way you mix your message with humor, very entertaining!! Great post, thank you💜
Thank you for this very sociable comment ! Greatly appreciated.
You’re very welcome, I’m happy to have discovered your wonderful blog!!
Sometimes, feeling antisocial just comes from being a bit overwhelmed. Two hours in a bookstore, a cup of tea and a walk can reset my feelings about being sociable
Thanks for resetting my feelings about this, my friend.
The difference between being genuinely antisocial and just wanting to be by oneself is the difference between Ted Kaczynski and Greta Garbo. I hope I’m not being antisocial by making that comparison.
Thank you for this genuinely social comment, Chris.
I’m not talking to anyone today!
I don’t blame you! Thanks for talking to us.
I don’t think you’re antisocial; I think you’re just fed up – big difference./ I think we all have a right to be fed up , it’s part of life. I’m fed up with people who are uncommunicative and unsociable- who make up excuses for their frigidness- knowing they won’t change, I just carry on- I’m certainly not going to let them drag me down. Have a nice day, Ann
Thanks for this nice and accepting comment.
Antisocial?????????????????
Me??????????????????????
Maybe……………………………….
Us??????????????????
Maybe………………………
If I’m feeling antisocial I simply don’t go out. That way I’m not mucking up anyone else’s day. In my opinion, when someone is antisocial, they don’t have to say a word. It’s written all over their face. Stand too close, and their energy could become your energy. IT’s a vibe better stayed inside.
However, just like many other ways of being in this word, there’s probably room for antisocial folks as well. I suppose if it serves one to be antisocial, so be it. Just know, it’ll eat you up before it eats me up! 🙂
I love every word and vibe of this comment. Thank you, Jen!
You are very welcome Ann. Happy artful 2020!🎉
i’m definitely definition #2 a lot. i try to be pro-social when i socialize, which i also enjoy from time to time, but it takes up a lot of energy
It can take up a lot of energy. Thank you for using the energy to comment here, Jymi.

I am sensitive to the label “antisocial” because I think I’ve been misunderstood many times. I identify as an empath, and as such, I’m easily overwhelmed, although I really do love people and enjoy social situations. But very little goes a long way. It’s an interesting topic, however, and it’s funny that I’ve never thought of the term as related to actual antagonism and breaking societal norms. I may be more interesting than I thought. 🙂
I identify as an empath too, Debra, and sometimes we need time to ourselves!
