Spoiler Alert! Yesterday I saw Avengers: Endgame, the kind of movie that evokes the use of the words “Spoiler Alert!” when people write about it.
Spoiler Alert! I’m alert to the importance of not give away spoilers about a movie that
- billions of people have not yet seen,
- has lots of twists and turns,
- has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes,
- makes people laugh and cry, and
- says, to me, that group therapy is a very effective way to deal with trauma and loss.
Spoiler Alert! I am not doing my usual thing of linking to the Wikipedia entry about Avengers: Endgame, because that has countless alert spoilers in it.
Spoiler Alert! I wonder if I’m reducing my readership for this blog post by repeating the words “Spoiler Alert”?
Spoiler Alert! Last night I couldn’t sleep and started writing a song called “Spoiler Alert.”
Spoiler Alert! Here are the lyrics I’ve written so far:
Spoiler alert!
Things in your life are going to hurt.
Even nice people will sometimes be curt.
Some foolish words you’ll be certain to blurt.
Spoiler alert!
You’ll eat too much of a fattening dessert.
You’ll be afraid that you might lose your shirt.
Someone you love will treat you like dirt.

My sleepless hours are not going to spoil my day — I’ll be alert at work today and also tonight at the sold-out John Mulaney and Pete Davidson comedy benefit for My Brother’s Table.
Spoiler Alert! I’m going to share all my photos from yesterday, right now!

I spoiled that last shot, obviously, by walking and talking while I was taking it.
Spoiler Alert! They Might Be Giants have a song called “Spoiler Alert”!
Spoiler Alert! I’m alert to gratitude all around me, so I can share it with you!

Thank you for spoiling us with your wisdom and wit every day, Ann.
Thank you for spoiling me, Mark!
That was a beautiful note!
Thanks for writing all your beautiful notes, Maureen!
Just off to look at the Wikipedia entry
Thanks for alerting us, Derrick.
I’ve enjoyed reading this Spoiler Alert post 🙂
Thanks for this alert and enjoyable comment!
Can you please post the music to Spoiler Alert?
I will, once I’m alert enough to compose it!
Spoiler Alert: I might eat that pasta dish before you do, at least contemplatively.
How contemplative those two Shakespearean cats seem…
Thanks for your alertness, Maria, always.
I enjoy getting a preview–I’m going to call it that instead of a spoiler–of your next song.
Also it’s interesting to me that The Avengers has a runtime of three solid hours with no intermission, but Funny Girl, which I watched recently, is just a little over two and a half hours with a fifteen minute intermission. The Sound Of Music has an intermission, and so does Monty Python & The Holy Grail, although it’s very short.
I’m glad the lack of an intermission didn’t spoil your enjoyment.
I enjoy getting all your comments, Chris.
Not a movie I am interested in
Spoilers don’t bother me, just so y ou know
Thanks for letting me know, interesting Joanne.
I have had so many books and movies spoiled for me because someone just couldn’t keep their enthusiasm to themselves. I am so glad you enjoyed the movie. So many of my friends are indeed talking about it. 🙂
When I was in Film School in the 80’s, one of my film professors, in a class, talked about plot points in a movie I hadn’t seen and I said several times, “Please don’t reveal any more, I haven’t seen it.” When he kept spoiling things, I got up and left the classroom. My friend, Janet, told me that after I left he said, “Where did she go?” Spoiler Alert: some people don’t listen and some people are clueless, and they’re often the same people!
