Two nights ago, I sang my original song “I Left the House Before I Felt Ready” (and if you’re ready to see that Open Mic performance, it’s in yesterday’s post).
As I was getting ready to write today’s blog post, I thought it might be useful to share some ideas about how to get ready (even when you don’t FEEL ready).

- Look up, look down, look all around.
Notice any possible danger in your immediate vicinity and “look for the helpers” (thanks to Mr. Rogers). Take a couple of precious moments, here and there, to reflect.

- Take your personal medicine, as prescribed.

- Remember that you can always take a rest, if you need one.

- When you’re in the dark, reach out for somebody.

- Remember that there are always new prizes to win and if you miss out on one, don’t have a cow.

- Take the next achievable step, even in the midst of uncertainty.

- Recognize your options, even when it looks like curtains.

- Remember that new and unforeseen things are around every corner. If you’re ready to play with them, maybe they’ll even be fun!

- Read what you need to get ready.

- Keep in touch with your inner child but also remember you can throw an F-bomb, when appropriate.

- Remember that you’re the expert on when you’re ready.
- Hydrate.
Ready for a song about getting ready?
Now I’m going to get ready to leave the house and see Avengers: Endgame. No matter how and when I’m ready, that movie will be playing somewhere, nearby.
How to get ready to leave a comment for this blog? Just do it!
Ready for some gratitude? Thanks to all who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — to YOU.

Eddie Izzard! Love him.
I am ready to tell you that I love Eddie Izzard too, Peter!
A very talented man.
If Lindor is medicine, I’ll be taking a dose daily to stay healthy!
I’ve been taking a daily dose of medical Lindor for the last few days!
Be prepared
I’m prepared to tell you I’m always ready for your comments, Derrick.
Many years ago Nickelodeon showed a miniseries called “Under The Mountain” set in New Zealand. It was about twins who, with the help of a mysterious man named “Mr. Jones” learned they were the “red force” and “blue force” that could save Earth.
I spent years looking for the original novel, by Maurice Gee, and finally found it about the time it was remade with Sam Neill.
I’m not quite sure how to conclude this—it’s something I was ready to share but not ready with what else to say.
I’m ready to tell you that the nice guy who helped us get ready to repair our leaky roof last week also had the last name of “Gee,” and he told me I was one in a thousand people to pronounce it correctly.
Gee, Chris, thanks for being a not-so-mysterious force of good on this Earth.
Very helpful post today, Ann. Thank you. 🙂
This comment helps me get ready to face another day. Thank YOU, Kat.
I often leave the house not feel quite ready but can’t put my finger on what is missing
I’m glad you’re not missing, Joanne.
Harley will show you how to get ready!
Harley is always ready for that!
Oh, no! (Catastrophizing) did somebody fall down the stairs at your therapist’s retreat? Are they okay? Did something happen to one of your neighbors?
I am hoping that the fact you were planning to see a movie means that things turned out well. I hope so!
Oh no! When I was getting this blog post ready, I figured that somebody might catastrophize because of those photos. I am ready to tell you that nobody got hurt at the retreat but I don’t know whether something happened to one of our neighbors.
Hydrate. You are precious, Ann, for sure.
Thank you, my precious friend.
I like the fact that at this point in my life I can decide when I’m ready! Sometimes I just like to delay! 🙂 I’m ready to say that I enjoyed your photos very much, however, and hope you have a great week, dear Ann.
I enjoy your comments very much, dear Debra.
