Day 4138: Predictions

If I were to write a song about predictions, I predict that it might start out this way:

Predictions

are often fictions

That might make us feel more secure.

Tomorrow

Today will follow,

But other details remain unsure.

My current predictions include:

  • I am going to give a show of my original songs on June 1.
  • There will be a dress rehearsal of that show on May 26.
  • The venue is small so I’m going to have to use a ticketing app.
  • I will learn what I have to learn to make this all happen.
  • Several people I adore will help me create this show and will also attend it.
  • I will donate proceeds from the concert and my album to two worthy causes: the suicide prevention organization Samaritans of Boston (where I volunteered before I changed careers in the 90’s) and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
  • Some people will use bar codes and links (also included in today’s blog) to donate something to Samaritans and NAMI.
  • I will learn the medical record software Epic well enough to continue to provide individual therapy and group therapy to my patients,
  • My blog post today will include predictions, definitions, quotes, tarot cards, good food, cats, questions, answers, The Daily Bitch, today’s holidays, a YouTube video, and gratitude.

Day 2858: Dead End

I grew up on a dead end and I live on a dead end now. Some people don’t like the term “dead end” — they prefer “cul de sac,” which translates from the French to “bottom of the sack. “

I believe that if the current, bottom-of-the-sack leaders in the USA get another term in office, it’s a dead end for the future, hope, civilization, and the survival of the human race.

Maybe that’s why I captured these images yesterday.

“Dead End” from the Quincy Jones album Walking in Space coincidentally showed up in my random Spotify playlist as I was walking by dead ends last night. Here is “Dead End,” which I’ve been listening to for most of my life.

I don’t know how this election is going to end and when it is going to end. I’m already dead with dread and exhaustion, and there are miles to go before I sleep.

I’ve had fun before. And worrying about whether the world is approaching a dead end is not it.

Day 2113: The Future

Decades ago, when I was wondering if I had any future, I had my palm and cards read.  My worst fear — that the reader would grimace, say “Oooops!”  or suggest that I get my affairs in order  — didn’t happen.

Yesterday, when I was wondering about the future of the earth, I  returned to the same tea room I had visited in the 1970s.  Again, my worst fear — that the reader would grimace,  say “Oooops!” or suggest that human beings get their affairs in order — didn’t happen.

While the reader at the tea room  was not doing what I had feared, he did say that I had trouble dealing with the mystery.  When I asked what the mystery was, he explained, “The Future.”

He reminded me of myself when he suggested I let go of worry and try to focus on the positive light of the future. He also kindly gave me a tissue when I shed a few tears describing my fears.  I guess psychics and psychotherapists share some common techniques.

It was a rainy, gloomy morning when I talked to the reader and I didn’t know that all these views were in the future:
