Day 4518: No Excuses

Yesterday was Relive Your Past By Listening to the First Music You Ever Bought No Matter What it Was No Excuses Day.

I have no excuses for the first music I ever bought, after looking at dozens of albums at a local record store.

.

I have no excuses for loving jazz so much when I was very young that I didn’t like the Beatles when I first heard them and saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.

I have no excuses for totally changing my mind about the Beatles when I saw A Hard Day’s Night at the local movie theatre with my cousin Amy and for loving their music ever since.

I have no excuses for any of my images for today.

.

The Daily Bitch offers no excuses for being herself.

I have no excuses for forgetting to take a picture of my husband Michael’s latest culinary creation yesterday.

I have no excuses for ordering the wrong replacement windshield wipers in the mail TWICE. I have no excuses for living this long and not realizing that the best way to replace windshield wipers is to go to my local auto parts store and to ask for help.

I have no excuses for always repeating my blog post title many times during each post.

Here’s what I find when I search for “no excuses” on YouTube.

.

I would have no excuses if I forgot to thank everyone who helps me blog every day, including YOU!

  1. I peeled off from my mother and went to the record department at
E.J. Korvette’s and bought Sly and the Family Stone’s Greatest Hits, Ann. The radio was playing Dance to the Music but I quickly fell in love with Everyday People and the whole darn thing.

I didn’t like the Beatles either at first. Someone at a party said, “You gotta hear this new band,” and put on a record of “I Wanta Hold Your Hand.” I thought it sounded dinky. I was a Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino fan. I, too, began to be reeled in with the movie, “A Hard Days Night,” but I never did become a huge Beatles fan. Friends of mine were appalled that I spent so much time in London and never went to Abbey Road. It had never occurred to me to do so.

  3. I loved the monkees, and told my older sisters that the bands they liked, one, the Beatles, and the other, the doors, were dumb and would never make it.

  4. I make no excuses for not being able to remember whether the first music I bought was Huey Lewis’s “Fore!”, The Grateful Dead, or “Earth Sun Moon” by Love & Rockets. A few years later it was The Cocteau Twins and Stravinsky. My tastes in music have always been odd and constantly evolving.
