Thanks to all who are giving a damn here, including YOU!

“Il Postino”; “My Life as a Dog”, definitely “Babette’s Feast” (mentioned above); “Tous les matins du monde”; “Au revior les infants”; “Jules and Jim”; “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg”; “Farinelli”; “Das Boot”…so many more! (Yes, there are American films like “Chinatown” and several noir films that are rarely seen that qualify for the list. All the Topper films are fun, as are the Road to… films. My favorite Bob Hope film, which features Jane Russell, too, is “Paleface”. “To Be and Not To Be” and “The Horn Blows at Midnight” with Jack Benny are hilarious!)
I give a damn about your opinions, Doug!
I chose “Enchanted April,” and the reason I love that movie is because when four women rent a small Italian castle, complete with “wisteria and sunshine,” for the month, not only do they not meet and fall in love with Italian hunks, but the two of them who are escaping dull marriages invite their husbands and fall in love again. In fact, they all fall in love again in various ways. (disclaimer: not, however, the story of my life)
And I give a damn about the Ukrainian people, the Russian people, the Israelis missing hostages, and the Palestinian people. Among other things.
Thanks for giving a damn, Barbara.
I give a damn about suffering people of all ages. and I give a damn about democracy. I have so many films that I love and many were so great, but not huge, ‘once’,’beasts of the southern wild,’ and ‘American movie.’
Thanks for giving a damn, my friend.
I still carry a soft spot for That Thing You Do, a sweet music-centered fable from 1996 featuring Tom Hanks, Liv Tyler and Tom Everett Scott. It never got much traction considering Hanks’ clout, Ann, but I appreciated the sounds and the message.
Today Anne, my give a damn’s busted, Lol!
