Today, I have no apologies for
- apologizing much less than I used to,
- taking time off from my work as a therapist even though many people struggle with depression and anxiety during and after the holidays,
- expressing my increasing distress about my clicking jaw and all the noises I hear in my head whenever I talk or sing,
- playing poker last night with my husband and son, taking a very long time to understand the rules, and then winning,
- feeling sad and happy that my son is returning to his math doctoral program in Halifax today,
- striking up a conversation yesterday with a couple who were admiring the beautiful sunset, only to discover that one was a math post-doctoral candidate from Harvard who had left academia to start a business, and then inviting him and his wife back to our home so he could connect more with my son,
- correcting my typo of “subset” in the bullet point above to “sunset,”
- rearranging the order of this list,
- my creative process, or
- any of my images for today.

No apologies for the number or quality of cat photos in this Happy Mew Year for Cats Day post.
Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “no apologies.”

No apologies for expressing my gratitude to you at the end of every blog post!

Happy Mew Year, Joan and Harley! And thank you for sharing these eye-catching Murphy’s Laws, Ann.

Happy mewyear to both of your kitties and I’m going to
😻😻
What beautiful photos,Ann! So sorry that your jaw is being as annoying as it can possibly be. What a great idea,to invite the post doc math entrepreneur home to visit your very mathy son. I wonder what kind of a business he started?
My math son landed in Tokyo 10 minutes after a major earthquake struck there. He didn’t have a SIM card so we heard about the quake first from his wife, who was vising her parents in a a small town, and she accidentally indicated to us that the epicenter was near the Tokyo airport,so we were very worried until we heard from him that he was safe, had a SIM card, and despite the train delays caused by the system shutdown after the earthquake, he was able to get a seat on a train that had been delayed, that brought him to his destination ten minutes earlier than his scheduled train. Japan is a very reliable country! And our New Year started very well as a result, as all of that happened in the first minutes and hours of Jan 1, our time.
So glad to hear that your son is okay, Maureen! 💕
Maureen, looks like your son dodged a couple of bullets when a Japan Airlines plane struck a coast guard plane and burst into flames today. So glad your dear ones are safe.
Thank you, Barbara!
I’ve tried to cut down on the I’m sorrys too. But I find them much preferable in public spaces than other responses – I apologize when someone steps on my toes, for example. Obviously, my toes were in their way. But I never think anybody purposely trod on them, and if I apologize I feel that it somehow averts a scene.
Whatever works, Barbara!
Especially beautiful sunset photos.
Thank you, Debbie!
I’m not apologizing for taking this entire week off from work, even though I felt pressured to go back sooner, and I’m glad you’re apologizing less too.
I’m glad, my friend.
