Do you see elements of an ideal vacation in this blog post?

What is your ideal vacation?
My ideal anything always includes connections to wonderful people, including YOU!

Yes – that looks ideal. We live in ours
I think you indeed have hit a home run on this vacation, Ann! I am having fun carefully combing your gorgeous windmill photos hoping for a glimpse of Don Quixote!
Love the pictures!
Glad you’re having a good time
Windmills and water and – so where are the tulips? And I had to Google Beatrice cradle to get the rest of the story. So that’s where Harry Chapin’s song comes from? Have to Google that one now.
It’s NOT where the Harry Chapin song comes from. I found references to problematic relationships between fathers and sons, but nothing about a Dutch flood.
Still, the chorus reads like a litany of children’s stories. So perhaps that accounts for it, although I don’t remember reading about the cat in the cradle.
“And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon”

I know, Ann, but thank you. That is the first place I looked. And when they said it was where the Harry Chapin song got its name, I looked that up too. But if he knew the legend, it isn’t mentioned. I guess he got the name from a poem his wife or girlfriend wrote. I’m just saying that I know about Little Boy Blue and the Man in the Moon and the Silver Spoon, but I had never heard the story of the Cat in the Cradle. So thank you for that.
What’s interesting is that the guide mentioned the song as being about the legend, which it really isn’t!
I can feel Van Gogh’s presence. What great images you’ve taken of those windmills with strong diagonals.

somewhere with local people I can mingle with, nature, little restaurants, culture of most any sort, nice places to walk, good company, and a few little surprises
Looks just about perfect to me!😉
Your vacation includes history, folklore, and, of course, travel by boat. That’s about as close to ideal as I could imagine any getaway getting.
