Day 3014: Should we be concerned?

When I read the news and witness people sharing loss, grief, and trauma in therapy, I often wonder “Should we be concerned?”

Should we be concerned that it’s difficult to know what we should be concerned about?

Should we be concerned about things we can control and/or things we cannot control? Should we be concerned that it’s difficult to know what we can control and what we can’t?

Should we be concerned that so many awful things — including racism, sexism, ageism, misogyny, classism, homophobia, transphobia, sizeism, denial, hypocrisy, greed, and shortsightedness — are in our system?

Should we be concerned about my images for today?

Should we be concerned about the Daily Bitch?

Should we be concerned that when I search YouTube for “should we be concerned” I see many concerning things ?

Here‘s “I’m Concerned” by the Pistoleros, with the late Arizona, USA, music legend Lawrence Zubia.

I’m concerned about what you’re concerned about.

Many thanks to all who help me share my concerns every day, including YOU.

  1. I am concerned that I am becoming less concerned with each passing day, and accepting of the fact that for so many things, no matter what I do, or say, I cannot influence the outcome.
    Then I remember the maxim:

For evil to succeed, all it needs is for good men to do nothing.

According to me, We should always be concerned otherwise we become callous human beings.

  3. When I was in college a lot of people were concerned because a man who’d supposedly predicted some devastating earthquakes said a major quake was going to happen along the New Madrid fault line. I was never concerned about it myself and even found it a little funny when a friend told me he’d noticed something interesting about the numbers. The quake was predicted to hit on the 12th of March, the 3rd month, at 4:56AM. It would, according to the prediction, be a 7.8, and the year was ’90.
I never treated anyone’s concern about the possible earthquake lightly. There was, and still is, a good chance of major earthquakes on the New Madrid fault line. However they can’t be predicted. I’m not sure whether I alleviated anyone’s concerns by sharing that. I’m afraid I may have made some of them worse.

  4. I’m concerned that humans may think they know too much or not enough, whereas Harley does not need to even raise this question.

  5. I’m concerned that I may have trouble re-entering the stream of life outside of my pod. I’m not even sure I want to. Maybe baby steps?

    • A lot of people are concerned about that, Debra, including me. You are not alone as we take baby steps together.

  6. I’m concerned for those who are not concerned about others.

  7. Little by little, Ann. I’m concerned about those rushing in too fast.
