When this world was six hundred and thirty-five days younger (but who in the world is counting?), I published a blog post titled “It’s not the end of the world.” Yesterday, I received this text message from somebody I think the world of:

If the world is ending, what should we do about it, besides warning each other?
Should we live for the moment, realizing that time is short?

Should we get some rest for difficult days ahead?
This post is ending, so here‘s a song from Billie Eilish …
… and gratitude, from me to you.

The world was always ending, Ann. Most likely. Now we screwed it up to end sooner. How much sooner is what we’re all scared about. That’s about as deep as I can get before I leave for work.
That’s a perfectly deep beginning and ending, my friend.
The good news is the Earth, like Mars and Venus, isn’t going anywhere.
The bad news is the Earth, if we’re not careful, could end up very much like Mars and Venus.
It’s always good news when you stop by, Chris.
I always thought Antarctica was the end of the world. Is it New Mexico now?
I can’t tell where the beginning or the end of the world is, Derrick. Could it be England ?
’tis mine, for sure 🙂
Just as a new born baby is dying, our Earth is ending. I may, or may not, be able to read your post tomorrow.
Thanks for the wonderful beginning, middle, and ending of your comment, Peter.
Well, if the world is ending, we should first thank God for putting us in it, and ask pardon for not respecting it. Have a nice day, Ann.
Thanks for another nice comment, Carla.
I have no idea why people worry about the end of the world, can’t see the point
I’ll try not to worry, Jo-Anne.
I think we can still enjoy those beautifully-prepared carrots
Thank you for another beautiful prepared comment, Maureen.
I do wonder what the world will be like for my grandchildren. I feel a sadness about that, certainly. And yet I’m grateful to be here now. What a lot to consider!
Thanks for another wonderfully considerate comment, Debra.
The world may be ending because Harley is not around.
Harley’s in his own world, Maria.
A long time ago the comedian George Carlin observed that, “The planet’ll shake us off like a bad case of fleas.” The world isn’t ending, we are. Let’s hope we’ve learned a thing or two since his observation.
Thank you for this worldly observation, Kat.
