“my head hurts real bad”
Here’s the real inspiration for today’s post:

What’s your real reaction to that?
My head hurts real bad when people
- deny climate change and
- otherwise deny what’s real to me.
It’s time for some real quotes:
Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come. — Henri Nouween
Character is like a tree and reputation is like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing. — Abraham Lincoln
The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office. — Dwight D. Eisenhower
It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. — Mahatma Gandhi
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one’s ignorance. — Confucius
Real happiness is cheap enough, yet how dearly we pay for its counterfeit. — Hosea Ballou
There is no real beauty without some slight imperfection. — James Salter
The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows. — Buddha
Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present. — Albert Camus
Real magic in relationships means an absence of judgment of others. — Wayne Dyer
Nothing ever becomes real til it is experienced. — John Keats
The world is like a reverse casino. In a casino, if you gamble long enough, you’re certainly going to lose. But in the real world, where the only thing you’re gambling is, say, your time or your embarrassment, then the more stuff you do, the more you give luck a chance to find you. — Scott Adams
The truth is, as most of us know, that global warming is real and that humans are major contributors, mainly because we wastefully burn fossil fuels. — David Suzuki

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. — Marcel Proust
To keep it real, I try to have new eyes every day. Here’s what I saw with new eyes yesterday:

Now I have a real dilemma: whether to share a real video of the Cookie Monster singing in the voice of the real Tom Waits …
… or this real video of my real son Aaron and his real friend Cameron from years ago, in which lasagna and Michael make real surprise appearances and Aaron keeps it real in the moment.
I’m looking forward to real comments about this real post.
Finally, here are some real thanks from me to all those who helped me create today’s real post and — of course! — to YOU.

Greetings from South Carolina. Regarding your headache, I hope it gets better soon. . . how do we know what the “optimum climate” is? Maybe, just maybe, we are moving towards what is optimum? Possibly, “mother nature” is much more resilient than we give her credit for and is able to continuously adapt to the changes and laugh at us for thinking we have the ability to impact her? I think that “climate change” is a political football and like most politics, it seems to have polarized our Country into opposing “realities” that create strong feelings. Unfortunately, most folks are not willing to consider a compromise. Therein lies the headaches. Like I often tell my wife when we discuss important topics, “If two people always agree, one of them is not necessary”. While your and my politics are probably (OK, definitely are) polar opposites, I still enjoy reading your blog each morning. Maybe we can both agree to say to each other, “I think you are sincere but I believe you are sincerely wrong?” Cheers.
Howdy, Ray. A friend of Ann’s is a friend of mine. Maybe the earth is trying to shrug us off because we’ve made such a mess of it all! Reading this blog is a great antidote to the trumpet machine. Nice to meet you. ✌️
I still enjoy reading everybody’s comments. Real thanks to you, Ray, and you, Sunny.
You always keep it real to your heart, mind and soul, Ann.
You are a real friend, Mark.
I’m with you re/ climate change, Ann. What if nature’s way to deal with what we’ve done to ruin our planet is simply to rid itself of us? Seems like a logical solution.
I really hope we and this planet all last a real long time. Thanks for being real!
Thanks, Ann. That’s what I love about the blogging world.. at least the part of it I’m part of. Everyone seems real.
I really hope Aaron and Cameron have improved 🙂
I really believe they have, Derrick. Thanks for being the real you.
The Earth was here long before humans and will still be here long after. The very real damage we’re doing to the environment through pollution is real but really will only harm us in the end if we continue to ignore it. That makes the words of Camus all the more profound. If we want to benefit the future—our children, grandchildren, and beyond—we’ll take care of the present.
You make the present real and better, Chris.
It’s a real pleasure to read your blog today, Ann. Yes, climate change is real. Yellow hair is not true wealth. Just a few of my real thoughts on this real Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
Thanks for your real thoughts, real Sunny!
