Day 1613: Home

Welcome to my blogging home, dear readers.

Yesterday, in the home office of a major medical institution in Boston, a therapy group discussed the topic of “home.”   This hit home for me, because soon I’ll be changing my current home for a different one.

I asked the group to write, draw, or otherwise express thoughts and feelings about home. Here’s what I did:

From my home this morning, I’d like to share this music about home.

As I look at my list of “What Makes a Home a Home?” from the comfort of my home,  I see that I wrote “pictures.”  Here are more pictures from yesterday.

I also wrote that “People make the home” and listed gratitude on “What makes a home a home?”  Many thanks to the people in my therapy groups, to  my bass-playing dentist Dr. Del Castillo, to my friend Deb, to Simon & Garfunkel, to all the other people who help make this my blogging home, and to you — of course! — for visiting me in my home, here and now.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the release in the USA of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper, here’s another Home song:

Nice pictures!! ;-)……and awesome blog of course!

  2. Home is where you can be what you are where you are, Ann. Right in this comment box right now for me …

  3. Home is a sanctuary. Where, as soon as you walk in the door, you feel lighter. Home is were you can have a cup of tea with a friend and reset the day. I hope your new home brings you and your people security and comfort

  4. Anne, having just moved from MA to North Carolina (!) I can relate powerfully to the concept of “home.” Hope your move goes smoothly.

  5. I love the turret room Ann!! Home is where you make it …. although my roots are still in Scotland. đź’›

  6. I always felt like home was where my parents were. Then they moved to a new state after I was an adult and I hadn’t grown up in the house they lived in. That made ‘home’ a bit weirder, but it was still home, because they lived there. Then they died. And now I don’t know where home is anymore. Though we kept the house they lived in on the lake and we meet there perhaps once a year and that is sort of home. But not.

  7. Home is where the heart is. If the love is not there the house is merely a shelter and not a home.

  8. Home is where I won’t be if someone dials-a-bat to be delivered there. However, I’ll take any other animal that will clean my windows. They really need it!

  9. Last weekend I joined a reunion of people with whom I went to school in England. Some of us hadn’t seen each other in twenty-five years. I made the trip in two parts. First I spent the night in a friend’s home in Cincinnati then we drove to Chicago where two friends opened their home to our little group. Some of my old friends brought their spouses who I felt became new friends.
It meant a lot to be invited into peoples’ homes, and reminded me how I often think of blogs as someone’s home: intimate spaces where old friends and new friends can connect.
Thank you for opening your home to us.

I really like what you wrote here, Christopher. I often appreciate your comments and rarely say that. So this time, I am. Wishing you well.

    • Thanks for another great visit, Chris. And you, too, Maureen.

  10. Glad I stopped by your home today!
