Day 4153: A time you felt scared

Yesterday, in my therapy group, I invited people to tell a story about a time they felt scared.

.

For me, almost every day is a time I felt scared, but I don’t let that stop me.

Yesterday — as I went to physical therapy for my noisily clicking jaw (eeeek!) and to a singing lesson for my upcoming concert (eeeek!) — I drove through several neighborhoods where I’ve lived and gone to school (eeeek!).

Maybe because these are times I’ve felt scared, I didn’t stop to take pictures of those experiences.

Do you see any reminders of a time you felt scared in my images for today?

.

Eeeeeeeek!!!!!

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “a time you felt scared.”

.

Thanks to all who made it through a time you felt scared, including YOU!

  1. I lived in Hyde Park in Chicago in the late 60’s – walked by Elijah Muhammed’s house (two lions guarding the front entrance) – on my way to the bus every morning. Took a bus to an el station to go to work. The day after MLK was killed, I got to work all right, but on my way home, when I got off the el to wait for a bus, I was the only white girl in a big crowd of people. But that’s not when I panicked. I panicked when a guy – I’d learned to recognize pimps by then – approached me and told me to come with him, that he’d take care of me. I wasn’t about to argue with a black guy in that crowd on that day – so yeah, I was scared, and hailed a passing cab to get out of there. The only time I felt even a little threatened on the black South Side of Chicago.

  2. I’m afraid to admit that the first album I bought was Earth Sun Moon by Love & Rockets. Second was Diesel & Dust by Midnight Oil. My musical tastes have changed significantly since then.

  3. my first single was ‘lady madonna,’ and I was really excited to get this new Beatles song, only to realize it was a fats domino version, and when I first understood the idea of cover versions of songs.
