Day 3984: What does this mean?

Yesterday, when I was leaving a very long doctor’s appointment that ran late into the evening, I saw this on a display monitor in the hospital hallway and wondered, “What does this mean?”

My first thought was that it might be a Russian word. My second thought was “Why would a Boston hospital show a single Russian word on a display monitor?” My third thought was that it was some kind of error message.

What does this mean that I can’t figure this out? And what does this mean?

I do know what that means. It means that somebody wrote “STAY GOLDEN” on that sign in my doctor’s waiting room and then somebody else erased the “G” and the “EN.” What does this mean that I laughed out loud when I saw it?

What does this mean that I shot this video this way yesterday?

.

What does this mean that these are my other images for today?

.

What does this mean that in my search for a drum teacher yesterday I sang some of my song “Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole” to a potential teacher and he said he was getting “definite Phoebe from Friends vibes?” What does this mean that I’ve never seen an episode of Friends so I don’t know what this means?

What does this mean?

.

What does this mean that I am always so grateful to YOU?

  1. Congratulations to Michael! What an extraordinary amount of work and craft went into rebuilding that ceiling so beautifully. I’m glad he gets to come down off the ladder and be more down to earth now. Thank you for sharing his journey. I am sure that it was at time stressful for him and hugely time-consuming but it was a pleasure to admire for this reader.

The letters and number on the board look like a license plate to me, especially given the zero. Could somebody have run in after witnessing something and scribbled the license plate on the board in order to remember it? Or in order to pay for a parking ticket? Possibly it’s password for Wi-Fi that somebody was making available to a group of visitors?

I really got a kick out of “stay old.” That makes more sense to me, and seems more desirable, than stay golden. I’ve never been golden. I’ve never aspired to be golden! And it is so much more rewarding them the oft-offered “stay young.” Thanks, Ann.

The ceiling turned out great! (And no more tools resting on various surfaces.)
That code looks like part of a 2-factor authentication for an app/website—though that makes no sense on a big display board. Puzzling.

  3. Today, for me, is a little jealous of yesterday, since yesterday I found out that the audio on my computer camera works so I was able to Zoom with my dear friend Hall, and once we got started we didn’t even notice that two hours had gone by. I know exactly what that means to me. Almost everything!

  5. A few years ago the college campus where I work put out small signs on tables that had a picture of Joey from Friends saying “How you doin’?” There was an explanation on one side that these were intended as conversation starters. I’ve never seen an episode of Friends so I asked a friend who loves it. She said, “Oh no, that’s very inappropriate. That was Joey’s pickup line.”
It was a funny reminder to think carefully about the trouble not knowing what something means can cause.

The first post with the letters must be a security code for something. I like the sign on the fence- it’s cute. My favorite charities are St. Jude Children’s Hospital and believe it or not the KKL foundation. Have a good evening, Ann
