Day 3846: Fond memories

I have fond memories of

  • my childhood,
  • both my late parents,
  • friends,
  • travels to different places, and
  • both of my therapy groups yesterday, when I asked people about their favorite smells, which often evoke fond memories.

Last night, I asked people on Twitter (which may be a fond memory soon) this question about fond memories:

    .

It’s interesting to me how other people’s fond memories can be so healing.

Are there any fond memories in my other images for today?

    .

I have many fond memories of macaroni and cheese, including the delicious mac and cheese they serve on Fridays at the hospital where I work. I have fond memories of returning to work in 2016 after a long medical absence and my friend Bah, who worked in the kitchen, making sure that I got mac and cheese on my first day back, which was a Tuesday.

Here’s what I find when I search for fond memories on YouTube.

    .

Feel free to share fond memories in the comments section below.

Thanks to all who become part of my fond memories, including YOU!

    1. the original jergen’s hand lotion, almond and cherry, and I still love it, because it evokes such a strong memory of a happy part of my young childhood.

    2. Definitely the smell of bread baking and cut grass. Lilacs in the spring time when the are in bloom….

Giving us two more photos of Anna for each increment of 20 new follows – clever marketing on your part!

    3. Debbie T

The 2 Joan poses that fill me with the most wonder are (1) curled up in the bathroom sink, and (2) perched precariously on a staircase post. Surely there are more comfortable places to hang out. But to each their own.

    4. At 80, so many. Girl Scout camping trips in the 50’s. Watching the protesters in Grant Park from the Hubert Humphrey Suite at the 1968 Democratic convention (not exactly fond, but certainly memorable). My barn full of animals needing food and water in Door County. Riding over the Powder River Pass on the back of a motorcycle in the rain. Too many Grateful Dead shows to count. Checking wristbands at Dragon Gate Security at the Oregon Country Fair, the warm smell of beer and cigarettes in the Blue Moon Tavern. Thanksgiving Dinners at my house with my girls and too many pies. Driving from east to west and back again with my son. It’s been a wonderful life.

    5. I first learned about synesthesia in a creative writing class with the example “the smooth mahogany smell of coffee”. I think of coffee as closer to pecan, but I’ve always been a bit nutty.

    6. Fond memories enigmatically play themselves like video that has color, aroma and sound, to then become more vividly clear and better understood, at the moment of death

    7. I’ll always remember the sweet, marvelous smell of eucalyptus trees at dusk as we drove from the airport in San Diego north to Carlsbad the first time I visited California with my dear wife Karen.
