Day 3916: National Brave Day

Today is National Brave Day!

.

Lately, I’ve been trying to be brave by working on my original songs, some of which I hope might empower women. Lately, the people I’ve been consulting with about my music have all been men, and sometimes I’m not brave enough to speak up for what I want or even know what I want.

For example, am I brave enough to go into a studio and record my music with live musicians? Am I brave enough to work with a producer who could create an awesome track with sophisticated technology and no live musicians (except for me)? Am I brave enough to do something simple and low-tech with just me and my ukulele and leave it at that?

I do know that I’m brave enough to share my thoughts, feelings, and images with you.

.

The Daily Bitch is brave enough to do like whatever she wants.

Here’s what I find when I search for “National Brave Day” on YouTube.

.

How are you going to celebrate National Brave Day?

Thanks to all my brave readers, including YOU!

  1. I learned during my decades of covering the Syracuse scene that that the network of talented technicians and producers willing to help music makers they thought had what it takes was robust, Ann. I’d imagine you’d find many such people in Boston with the right research. Starting point, maybe, the Berklee School of Music online boards?

  2. I’m going to celebrate brave day by waking up and seeing what the day will hold, without knowing for sure what will happen, and being okay at the end of the day, and probably better

  3. go for it Ann!
You should definitely work on producing your songs! That sounds cool to me, very cool!

  4. You are brave enough to do anything you want with your music, Ann. I knew that the first time you shared a video.💜 Being brave doesn’t always mean feeling brave, but you always sing bravely and that is what comes across

  5. You’re very brave to put your songs out there, and it also takes bravery to say that you’re not always sure what you want, although it also sounds like you want more diverse assistance with your music, and even in today’s world it take bravery to ask for that.
I have a funny association with the word “brave”. My fourth grade teacher believed I belonged in a gifted program and a strange man came and tested me during recess one day. As I recall I was doing really well, in spite of not knowing why I was being tested, until he asked me to define the word “brave”. I could use it in a sentence, I could tell him it was an adjective, but I couldn’t come up with a definition. I got flustered and later learned that kept me out of the gifted program. I’m brave enough now to say that was a ridiculous decision.

  6. Having trouble seeing my comment here. Let me know if you’ve seen one about the cherry factory.

  7. The site insists I’ve already posted it.

  8. Just posted it again. I will try tomorrow. The “reply” seems to go through, but it does not appear. I think I’ve whammied it somehow by repeated attempts.

  9. I think I would be happy to celebrate National Brave Day more often. It takes huge amounts of courage to get through life in one piece! 🤷‍♀️
