Day 1559: Good Advice

Just now, when I searched my own posts for “Good Advice,” I got this message:

NOTHING FOUND

So, if you were looking for good advice between January 1, 2013 and April 7, 2017, it might have been advisable to look elsewhere.

Let’s see if we can find any good advice here, today.

Thanks for that good advice, Ocean!

Here’s more good advice:

  • Assume that you will survive everything that comes your way.
  • Enjoy the journey as best you can.
  • Throw away things you don’t need.
  • Do more of what helps.
  • Do less of what doesn’t help.
  • Spend time with people you like.
  • Avoid those who hurt you.
  • Take a deep breath.
  • Make noise.
  • Accept all your feelings.
  • Show up.
  • Be gentle.
  • Tell the truth.
  • Be in the moment.
  • Use all your senses.
  • Access your wisdom.
  • Let go of worry, fear, and shame.
  • Trust yourself.
  • Love freely.
  • Care less about what other people think.
  • Communicate clearly and directly.
  • Move.
  • Stop and smell the roses.
  • If there aren’t any roses around, stop and see my latest photos.

Day 1556: Worth more than gold

Yesterday, I saw a sign that asked a worthy question.

IMG_9927

Who is worth more to you than gold?

My family, friends, patients, and readers are worth more to me than gold.

My trusty iPhone camera, which captures precious moments, is worth more to me than gold.

Michael‘s cooking and music I love are also worth more to me than gold.

Guess what? Your comments are worth more to me than gold, too.

Worth-more-than-gold thanks to all who helped me create this post and — of course! — to you.

Day 1513: What’s in your heart?

What’s in your heart as you’re reading this?

What’s in my heart as I’m writing this?

  • Love.
  • Hope.
  • Fear.
  • Acceptance.
  • Anticipation.
  • Curiosity.
  • Blood.
  • Muscle.
  • A mechanical valve.
  • Wires from a 1966 cardiac pacemaker.
  • Wires from a 1987 cardiac pacemaker.
  • Arteries.
  • Veins.
  • Everything I experienced yesterday, including this big heart in the heart of Belmont, Massachusetts:

img_9013

  • Music (which is on the left in that big heart).

  • Groove.
  • Delight.
  • Fun.
  • Mysteries.
  • Wisdom.

img_9023

  • Completeness.
  • The results of decades of eating all sorts of food.

Day 1507: What did I miss?

Whenever I run a therapy group and list the themes I’m hearing in the room, I always ask the group members:

What did I miss?

I never miss asking that question because, as I tell the group, I always miss something.

What did I miss, yesterday, when I was taking pictures?

I almost missed sharing music not to be missed.

What did you miss in this blog post? Please don’t miss leaving a comment for this Blogging Miss.

I never miss expressing my thanks to all who help me create the day’s blog post and — of course! — to YOU.

Day 1496: Where values and value meet

These days, I am looking for a new home, where values and value meet.

In other words, I’m looking for a home that meets the values of  me, my boyfriend, and my son and that also has solid monetary value.

Does such a place exist?

Is it near this sign I saw yesterday?

img_8622

My values include being near water — an ocean, a river, or a lake. My boyfriend’s values include enough space to stretch out. My son’s values include getting a great education in Edinburgh, Scotland.

How do I weigh and prioritize different value(s) to make a decision?

Might I get some guidance from the other photo I took yesterday?

img_8623

If I give love to

  • myself,
  • my loved ones, and
  • a home I love,

I’ll get love.

And what has more value than love?

Here’s a valuable tune I love about a river:

What are your thoughts and feelings about values and value? You know I’d value any comment you leave, below.

Valuable thanks to all who helped me create this post and to you — of course! — for the value you bring, here and now.

Day 1483: Attitude

Yesterday, when I was expressing my feelings, somebody told me I had “attitude.”

What is the dictionary’s attitude about the word “attitude”?

at·ti·tude
ˈadəˌt(y)o͞od/
noun
1. a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior.
“she took a tough attitude toward other people’s indulgences”
synonyms: view, viewpoint, outlook, perspective, stance, standpoint, position, inclination, temper, orientation, approach, reaction.
2. a position of the body proper to or implying an action or mental state.
“the boy was standing in an attitude of despair, his chin sunk on his chest”
synonyms: position, posture, pose, stance, bearing
“an attitude of prayer”
3. NORTH AMERICAN (informal)
truculent or uncooperative behavior; a resentful or antagonistic manner.
“I asked the waiter for a clean fork, and all I got was attitude”

Since I was in North America being told by a North American that I had attitude yesterday,  it’s possible that I was exhibiting truculent or uncooperative behavior and a resentful or antagonistic manner.

Here’s my attitude about that: We’re all allowed to have attitude, sometimes.

Yesterday, millions of women and other human beings showed a lot of attitude all over the world.

Here’s my beloved friend, Barbara, showing a welcoming attitude:

Is there attitude in my other photos from yesterday?

As always, I end with a gratitude attitude for all who helped me create this  post with attitude and for you — of course! — no matter what attitude you have, here and now.

Day 1443: Home is where…

Home is where I’m writing this blog post.

“Home is where the heart is,” my late mother used to say, at my childhood home.

Home is where people feel comfortable enough to wear ugly sweaters for Christmas.

img_7456

Cardiac rehab is where Carla showed me her winning sweater, above,  for the “Ugliest Sweater Contest” she competed in at home.

Cardiac rehab, which feels like home because of Carla and the other friendly staff there, is also where I saw this, yesterday:

img_7457

Home is where my boyfriend Michael cooks me delicious meals, like this one:

img_7459

Home is where Michael played  the  song “Home”  for me when we first moved to our current home.

Home is where I’m posting one more image before I leave my home for work today.

img_7458

Thanks to all for helping me feel more at home, here and now.

Day 1435: Infinite Victory

On a day when there’s news of a victory or two for Earth, I am inspired, again, by tea.

img_7304

What does “infinite victory” mean to you?  To me, it means a gift that keeps giving.

Are there any victories in my finite photos from yesterday?

I’d love (which is an infinite victory) any finite comments from you.

Day 1425: Family

Yesterday, I spent many hours with my boyfriend Michael’s family celebrating Thanksgiving.

Here’s  the family of photos I took at his sister’s home and his brother’s home.  Which ones say “family” to you?

Kayla, the daughter of  Michael’s brother John (a/k/a Moe) IS awesome and yesterday she and I had a conversation, surrounded by her family,  about the pros and cons of marriage.  If I did marry into that family, I’d certainly have lots of blogging material.

What family music would you include here?

Fantastic thanks to Michael’s family including his siblings Lydia, Steve, Martin, and John; to his niece Kayla and the rest of his extended family;  to friends of the Malone family;  to Sister Sledge; to everyone else who helped me create this family-valued post;  and to you — of course! — for being a member of my blogging family, here and now.

Day 1421: What the world needs now

What do you think the world needs now, my dear readers?

Could the world need yet another blog post from me?

Last night, the amazing Michael McDonald told us what the word needs now by performing this Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic:

What I need now is to share my photos from yesterday, when I spent time with people I love.

Love sweet love to my talented sister Ellen, to Michael McDonald, to my friend Barbara, to everyone else who helped me create this post and to you — of course! — because the world needs you, now.
