Day 4879: I’ve Done My Best

Last week, a patient I’ve done my best with told me about a useful mantra they had created:

I’ve done my best

I’ll let the universe do the rest.

For years, I’ve done my best at

  • blogging,
  • psychotherapy,
  • parenting,
  • music,
  • humor,
  • taking pictures,
  • connecting with others, and
  • being a thoughtful citizen of the world.

It’s nice to think of the universe doing the rest. That doesn’t mean I’ll stop

  • blogging,
  • psychotherapy,
  • parenting,
  • music,
  • humor,
  • taking pictures,
  • connecting with others, and
  • being a thought citizen of the world,

but it does take some pressure off.

I’ve done my best to introduce my images for today.

I’ve done my best with my old student Chris Delyani, who’s done his best with his latest novel.
I’ve done my best jogging and now that I’m dealing with health restrictions I’ll let the universe do the rest.

.

I’ve done my best finding another great YouTube video for the day:

.

I’ve done my best and now I’ll let my gratitude do the rest.

Day 4878: First Things First

Because yesterday was Mother’s Day, I’d like to honor my late mother by sharing one of her favorite sayings: First Things First.

First Things First: I sometimes don’t know what first things are, but I do find it very helpful to prioritize.

First Things First: my first things this morning are blogging, checking my INR (which was surprisingly low on Friday), and leaving for my in-person day at the hospital.

First Things First: Here are my images for today.

.

First Things First: Because I’m on warfarin and have to watch my INR for the rest of my life, I can’t always eat what I want (even on Eat What You Want Day), but I could eat a Hostess Cupcake.

On National Women’s Check-up Day, I will be checking my INR momentarily, but first things first.

.

The last thing in this first-things-first blog post is my gratitude to YOU.

P.S. First things last: My INR was perfect.

Day 4149: Awareness

In my therapy group mindfulness exercises, I often suggest that people breathe in gratitude, acceptance, unconditional self love, and awareness.

For me, awareness includes understanding and letting go of old, outdated, and unhelpful beliefs — for example, if I put myself out there, something terrible will happen. My awareness tells me that old belief is born from an awareness of superstitious fears in my family as well as terrible things happening (including scary heart problems and painful hospitalizations and operations) when I was just starting to put myself out there as a child.

People who regularly read this blog may have an awareness that I will be putting myself out there in a matter of weeks in a concert/album taping of my original songs. My awareness tells me that something terrible might happen but good things are more likely.

Do you see awareness in my images for today?

.

Perhaps people now have the awareness that this blog post was inspired by International Awareness Day.

Here’s what I find when I search for “awareness” on YouTube:

.

What is your awareness of your thoughts and feelings about this “awareness” post?

I hope there is awareness out there for how grateful I am for YOU!
