Day 4769: Come in from the cold

Today is National Come in from the Cold Day.

.

I wish I lived in a nation where everybody could come in from the cold. Because of the cold people running this nation, it’s getting even more difficult to come in from the cold.

I hope this blogging space affords people an opportunity to come in from the cold.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “come in from the cold” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who help me come in from the cold, including YOU!

Whenever I hear the phrase “come in from the cold,” I am reminded of John LeCarre’s wonderful novel “The Spy Who Came in From the Cold.” Reading that one sent me on to reading all of his. All well worth it.

I’ve just begun posting on my substack, and I’m thinking that today I might post a little something about winter weather/adventure. The high here tomorrow is supposed to be -9. And while I know not everyone is able to think of that as an adventure (it’s my grocery shopping day), for me it is. So few adventures left to me now, so I take them as I can get them. 🙂

    • I thought of that book also, Barbara. I read it when I was quite young and I remember being in the hospital as a kid and explaining the ending to the nurses! We take our adventures where we find them.

Joni Mitchell Sang Come in from the Cold.

I do not put much thought into my socks. 100% wool for winter and hiking. Great for keeping toes dry (the important part) and warm. Maybe it was the Army or the Boy Scouts, but wool socks are the best.

  5. All too often I feel, as Joni Mitchell sings, that they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. But her music still warms me up. Also I wear a lot of fun socks but no one ever sees them. I think, like my opposition to all that’s going on, my socks need to be a lot more visible.
