Day 4110: Unusual animals

We’ve been watching the Canadian TV show Pets & Pickers, which includes many unusual animals, like hedgehogs and humans who donate time and money to provide free and subsidized care for sick pets.

For now, watching these unusual animals is putting me in a better mood than watching the unusual animals in the excellent but dark series Fargo. Maybe that’s because the news gets me believing that kind, selfless, and non-materialistic people are unusual animals these days.

Do you see unusual animals in my images for today?

.

I assume that unusual animals will appreciate Fish Fingers and Custard Day.

Here’s what I find when I search for “unusual animals” on YouTube:

.

As you can see from that video, only unusual animals seem to know how to use the word “unique” these days. (One of my grammar pet peeves.)

Thanks to all the unusual and usual animals who helped me create today’s post, including YOU!

  1. I saw some said capybara, which I almost said as well. Considered some kind of tiny monkey, loris, or lemur, but realized I had too many small things (puzzle pieces) that would attract critters with opposing thumbs. Speaking of Fargo (weren’t we?), have you seen the last episode yet?

    • We have temporarily stopped watching Fargo after the second season. It’s not unusual for us to do things like that.

  2. Maybe it’s too easy to say the oceans are full of unusual animals. Starfish were once considered mindless eating machines but high speed film has shown they have complex lives and interactions. The Portuguese man’o’war starts life as a group of individual animals that specialize as parts of a colony. Or is it a single animal? On land the pangolin is so unusual. They’re endangered now and I’d love to protect them but not by keeping them as pets. I’d rather preserve the places where they live. Wild places shouldn’t be unusual.

  3. I haven’t heard of Pets and Pickers but it sounds fun.

Have you seen the 2020 version of All Creatures Great and Small? That’s another show with a gentle spirit and lots of wonderful animals. Four seasons so far.

    • Pets and Pickers is all about the RAPS Animal Hospital, which is near Vancouver. And I haven’t seen the new version of All Creatures Great and Small yet; I appreciate the recommendation!

  4. I was gifted a tiny alligator when I was a child. my father worked in advertising someone gave it to him in a giveaway promotion. how sad that animals were a common giveaway item at that time. my alligator was no bigger than a ruler, and I tried to take him in for show and tell, but he passed away on the way to school and I was heartbroken. looking back, it was all awful, an animal as a giveaway, my parents thinking I could take care of it, and it not really having a chance to survive.
