Day 4009: The airing of grievances

Yesterday was the Seinfeld-created holiday of Festivus, which includes the airing of grievances. I can’t exactly remember the other Festivus rituals (something with a pole) because the airing of grievances is so compelling and memorable.

It occurs to me that my job — group and individual therapy — usually includes the airing of grievances, so that people can get validation for their feelings and then move on to achievable next steps.

For me, the airing of grievances, here and now, would include

  • My disappointment with the movie Maestro,
  • My jaw is still snapping, crackling, and popping whenever I talk, sing, or eat (three of my favorite activities),
  • How the media has been focusing on Donald Trump for years, and
  • How human beings so often express their grievances through close-mindedness, injustice, and killing.

Do you see the airing of grievances in my images for today?

I want to air my grievances with the Daily Bitch Calendar for having only one entry for every weekend.

.

Last night I saw my son for the first time since he moved to Halifax and as I was airing my grievances, anxiety, excitement, and other feelings about preparing for my concert/live album recording in June, we decided I should write a new song called “Don’t Kill Yourself.” I have to finish my musical airing of grievances in “Other People’s Anger” first, but I’ll get on that new tune as soon as I can.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “the airing of grievances.”

.

Let the airing of grievances begin in the comments section, below!

Thanks to all who witness the airing of grievances in this blog, including YOU.

And by the way, I have no problems with you people.

  1. I am glad you reminded me that George, Jerry and the gang left the traditions of Festivus for the rest of us, Ann.
Yes, there was a pole and athletic skills involved.
I surely hope your physical grievances can be sorted out in some way.
I too watched Maestro this week with much open-jaw reaction to the magnitude of the rambling hot mess scope Bradley Cooper unleashed from Leonard Bernstein’s life. I must say I admired much of Cooper’s acting work nevertheless. And could they possibly have smoked so many cigarettes?

  2. I think there was some spontaneous wrestling going on at the festivus table. sorry to hear that maestro disappointed you, it’s something I’ve been waiting to see.

my greviences all have to do with people being mean to each other

  3. Debbie Terman

    Welcome home Aaron!

  4. I used to see a cardiologist who celebrated Festivus with her family: there was the airing of grievances, the aluminum pole, and the feats of strength. She also told me my high blood pressure at the time was probably caused by a small part of my kidney dying, adding, “It’s not quite dead yet.” My grievance is that she retired. But I don’t have a problem with that. She deserved a rest.
Welcome home Aaron, and here’s to a new song and hopefully fewer grievances next year!
