What makes me smile? Watching a squirrel take advantage of yesterday’s spring-like weather in my yard. I took a break and watched the wildlife in my yard. Peter (or maybe it was Petra- it’s very difficult to differentiate between the two rabbits who live under the shed- ) stopped in his tracks and stared at me and I stared back. Calling his name. Hell just typing this made me smile

Remembering the halcyon days of 1953, when I was 10 years old and in 4th grade at Brush College Elementary School in Decatur, IL. I’m writing a blog post about it and trying to remember more. By the time the school closed in 2013, it had been in operation for 161 years.
