Day 4012: Anniversaries

In therapy, people often talk about anniversaries of important, powerful, sometimes traumatic days.

For me, a traumatic anniversary is November 22, when I got my first cardiac pacemaker at 10 years old on the same day that President Kennedy was assassinated.

Today is a happy anniversary for me — the day my husband Michael and I got married!

I’m celebrating our anniversary by starting a 12-day vacation from work, getting a bone scan, returning a defective part from our new shower, hanging with my son Aaron and our cats, working on my original songs for my show/live album recording in June, going out to dinner with Michael, and creating this blog post for you.

Just watch me as I look for “anniversaries” on YouTube.

.

What are important anniversaries for you?

Thanks to all who help me create and celebrate anniversaries, including YOU.

Happy anniversary!!! Here’s to many more years of love and happiness!

  2. yes, I think we all hold those forever. my own sister let us know yesterday that her husband passed away on Christmas Day, her favorite day of the year. I’ll be heading out to Arizona to help when she knows her plans.

  3. I don’t allow myself to whine, though others think I should try it more. Yeah, sometimes I think I do slip and whine, but I am upset with myself for being self-indulgent in that way. The most disparaging thing I can say about someone else is “He/she is a whiner.” I will leave whining to the whiners. Now, my emotional failing is temper tantrums, though, with age, those are getting to be few and far between. That happens when you retire and don’t have to spend your days around obnoxious and toxic people! LOL!

One spends a lifetime remembering certain days as birthdays of family and friends. Then, with time, those dates convert into the day someone died. The most important thing there is you are remembering and cherishing someone else forever.

  4. Happy Anniversary, Ann and Michael!

  5. Christmas Eve day is the anniversary of my mother’s suicide and it no longer hurts. Today is the anniversary of my younger brother’s birth and I’m going to call him with good wishes.

  6. You are always such a delight to read, my friend. And an inspiration to others — whether or not you intend to be. Happy Anniversary darling!

  7. Happy Anniversary! For me, at 80 (I know. I keep boasting about my age. It’s ’cause I’m not sure I really believe it.) it seems as if every day of the year should be an anniversary of something. 2 weddings. 2 children. Umpteen nieces’ and nephews’ birthdays. The day Kennedy was killed. The day Nixon resigned. The day Reagan was elected and I seceded from the Union. The 3 times I got engaged and *didn’t* get married. The day I set off for the west coast on the back of a motorcycle. The day we bought the farm. My first night at the Blue Moon. My first Dead show. There’s not really room for 365 entries here, is there? So once again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Sounds like a busy first day of vacation. I hope it all went well. And happy anniversary!

  9. I hope your anniversary was enjoyable and the scan went well, Ann.
