Day 3927: What’s disturbing?

It’s 3:41 AM, I’m thinking about what’s disturbing, and I just posted this on Twitter (excuse me, but I find the new name “X” disturbing):

.

For me, here and now, what’s disturbing includes

  • Physical pain,
  • Emotional pain,
  • Social and financial inequities,
  • U.S. politics,
  • Fascism,
  • Gun violence, and
  • Thoughtless cruelty.

What’s disturbing is that when I encounter unexpected obstacles to pursuing my goals, I can become momentarily burnt out and discouraged.

What’s the opposite of disturbing? Wait a moment; I’ll check.

.

It really helps to focus on what’s not disturbing, especially because our minds automatically focus on what’s disturbing.

I’m going to finish this blog post so I can try to get back to sleep and get a rest from what’s disturbing (including my arm that’s very sore from a COVID shot and a flu shot I got yesterday at the hospital).

.

What’s disturbing about those daily holidays?

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I look for “what’s disturbing.”

Actually, I don’t want to share what’s disturbing on YouTube. Instead, thanks to all who visit this daily blog, including YOU!

  1. Disturbing my sleep? His name is Andrew, AKA Andy the smoke Persian kitty!

  2. I’ve never been a good sleeper who can go the distance, I fall asleep early and wake up early, and can fall asleep most anywhere, but apparently my mind refuses to match my sleep style at times, or perhaps is the cause of it

  3. My dear wife Karen and I have our COVID and flu boosters scheduled for Thursday, Ann, and the news of your sore arm of course disturbs me this morning.

  4. I find X disturbing as well, especially when it switches to white text on a black screen at 10pm (UK time). I thought maybe it was so we wouldn’t be looking at a white screen close to bedtime, but can’t quite believe Elon Musk is that bothered about our sleep hygiene.
Some of those daily holidays are definitely disturbing! Mean girls appreciation day? Virus appreciation day? Who comes up with these things?
Some lovely serene evening skies in your photos.

  5. I did go to bed last night with some disturbing thoughts that are likely unfair and too me-oriented, but I found I could banish them by remembering a message my friend Kish in Seattle sent me recently – out of the blue – telling me how much she loved my writing and what an inspiration I have been for her. I loved hers as well, and went to sleep remembering our Writers’ Cramp meetings, critiquing each others’ work.

  6. Sorry your sleep was disturbed Anne!
I hope you are not too tired today!

  7. It’s disturbing to me that others can’t always get what they need, including enough sleep. Right now it’s also disturbing to me that I’m being expected to pass a test at work that’s not related to what I do and I can’t get the help I need. But it’s just work so I won’t lose sleep over that.

I can understand how you feel, Ann. It’s hard to get to sleep when there are a lot of worries. I find your pictures of the water and boats to be very calming. I hope things get better for you

  9. Thank you for not sharing what’s disturbing on YouTube. I hope that you quickly recover from your vaccination.

  10. I sleep very well, and I know what a gift that is. I have so many friends who just plain do NOT sleep with any regularity. And my guardian angels are my two grandmothers. I sure do feel their presence! ❤️
