People in my Coping and Healing groups yesterday focused on other people’s behaviors. These other people
- ignore pandemic safety precautions like wearing masks and social distancing,
- act like children,
- violate requested limits and boundaries, and
- were group members’ PARENTS.
When people talk to other people about other people’s behaviors in a support group, they realize they are not alone.
Other people’s behaviors are on my mind this morning, and I’m remembering something somebody said in group last night:
You can’t control other people’s behaviors; you can only control your reactions to them.
My Coping and Healing group, April 22, 2021
Can you see other people’s behaviors in any of today’s photos?

Harley, as he gets older, is less reactive to and scared of other people’s behaviors. Maybe he realizes he can only control his own behavior and that’s enough.
When I search YouTube for “other people’s behaviors,” I find this:
I very much appreciate Louise Evans’s behaviors in that 2017 Ted Talk, and I recommend that other people’s behaviors today include watching it whenever you can.
My behavior at the end of every post is to thank everyone whose behaviors help me create this daily blog, including YOU.

I have been unfollowing facebook people that rage against requirements for mask wearing, social distancing and their refusal to get vaccinated because all this is an assault on their “liberty”. I am a conservative republican but these people and the members and leadership of my party are absolutely nuts and deranged in their objections for good health and safety practices. I keep telling them, to no avail, it’s not about liberty. It’s about germs.
It’s so frustrating to see other people’s behaviors that put us all at risk. Wonderful to see you here, my friend.
Now that’s one big kite, Ann. It’s supposed to be windy enough here today to get a kite like that up in the air, and I do live quite near the lake. Nah, I have to be at the library for work, so it won’t be me flying a kite.
I didn’t capture that other person’s subsequent behaviors, Mark, but it was wonderful to see him parasail across the bay.
“This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people.” .. Walt Whitman
I appreciate your poetic behaviors, Ivor.
😄🌏😎
I see man enjoying his habitat by flying his kite on the beach.
I see you improving this blogging habitat with your comments.
Understanding that we can only control our reactions to other peoples’ behaviors is very wise. I also try to always remember the wisdom of Mark Twain who said, “A man shouldn’t judge others on grounds where he can’t stand perpendicular himself.” I try to lean into that.
I always appreciate your unique angle, Chris.
My tolerance can be tested to extremes by other people’s behaviour, but I do try to keep my reactions within the law!
Good behavior, my good friend!
Yeah it is frustrating to see people not wearing masks and having a more relaxed attitude… people the pandemic is still here. we must not take our guard down… otherwise don’t be surprised if we all have to go into lockdown again 🙁
I appreciate your responsible and supportive behaviors, Helen.
I can see Harley having influence on other’s people’s behaviors.
Harley definitely influences our behaviors!
other people’s behaviors cannot be controlled, but it is upsetting when their choices impact others in a negative way and seem to be very selfish
I also am upset by other people’s negative and selfish behaviors, my friend.
I’m going to watch that Ted x talk now. Thanks!
Harley is a sweetheart.
It takes one sweetheart to know another one, Maureen.
Louise Evans’s talk was wonderful! Just what I needed and I didn’t even know it. I think I used to spend more time in the giraffe and dolphin chairs, and lately I’ve been more in the hedgehog and even jackal chairs. I’m not really meant to be a jackal. Thank you so much for this!
I had the same reaction to her talk, my friend.
…so I bought her book. 🙂
Great!
Harley doesn’t put his toys away
And neither do we.
🙂
