Yesterday, not knowing it was World Book Day, 2017, I took several photos of books,.

When I was younger, I was constantly reading books. These days, I read more blogs than books. Is there a World Blog Day on the books? There was one, five years ago, according to Face Book.
Here are some quotes about books from books:
“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” — Jane Austen
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.” — Groucho Marx
“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.” — Lemony Snicket
“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.” — Haruki Murakami
“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.” — J.D. Salinger
There are 3,000 quotes about books at goodreads.com. I am stopping at five quotes about books from books, because I don’t want today’s blog to be a book.
Here are other photos I took on World Book Day:

Here‘s a previous blog post on the books, where I wrote new lyrics for “You’ve Got it Bad, Girl” from Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book.
This girl could write a book about how thankful I am for all who help me blog every day and — of course! — for you. Rather than wait for that book, though, I’ll end with two more pictures from World Book Day.

It has been said that you will be the same person in five years that you are today, except for the books that you read and the people you associate with. Bloggers fall into the “association group”. We get to hang with some pretty smart and insighful people, like you.
This kind comment is one for the books, Ray.
Have you seen the movie depicted in the one framed image? “Big Night.” With Stanley Tucci and Tony Shaloub. The last scene was shot in one take. Exquisite You might want to book some time to watch it, if you haven’t alread.
I love that movie. I wonder if it was based on a book? Thanks for the big comment, Maggie.
Had no idea it was World Book Day yesterday! Like the look of that one about the media selling anxiety to women. And my husband and DIL LOVE Murakami. Lots to look at here and relate to. The sea/promenade as well – is it that the UK or do you have double yellow lines to stop parking in certain places in the US too? Now going off to investigate you alternative lyrics…:-)
That is the US, Gilly. Thanks for sharing with US today! <3
Reading rocks! Book ’em, Ann-o.
You, Mark-o, rock every day.
C.S. Lewis famously said, “We read to know we are not alone.” That applies to books and blogs equally, which is why I think we’re lucky to live in a world of both.
We’re lucky to live in a world with you, Chris.
Those are great quotes. I used to frequently carry a paperback around with me in my back pocket. Since the advent of eBooks, I always have one on standby in my phone.
This is a great comment.
such lovely photos Ann- and yes, you are totally awesome
If I wrote a book, Lisa, the title might be “It Takes One Totally Awesome Person to Know Another One.”
Books are amazing, I love books, I love to read just like my mum and now my dad who never picked up a book till 2009 and now he is always reading
I love reading your comments, Joanne.
I am always amazed at the images you take — I mean, they are perfect for each story, and as different as the day is long. You have an amazing eye for these thing! Maybe you should write a book about it!
I am amazed at your kindness, Claudia, definitely worthy of a book!
Holy Cow! I missed World Book Day as well. Thanks for the great reminder. I especially love the quotes. Jane Austen is always a delight, but I had missed the quote you shared–delightful. The Groucho Marx quote has always been one of my favorites when a teacher friend shared it years ago. It surprised me that I had forgotten about it! Have a great day. Sort of like Earth Day, it seems to me every day should be Book Day.
Thanks for the great, delightful comment, Patti!
Thank you so much for finding me and follow. Here’s my newest post on books. (I follow back.)

Thanks for the follow and for the post on books.
You’re welcome. I love to see all the kids read more books!
I appreciate all the quotes on books. I think parents would want to give books to the kids first before let them play with e-games!
I appreciate you!
My pleasure!
Books and bacon in the same post????? This IS heaven. 🙂
It’s heavenly to see you, Colleen, and check out Derrick’s comment directly below.
A librarian I once knew claimed to have found a rasher of bacon left as a marker in a returned book.
Thanks for the meaty comment, Derrick.
Well that would have made my day. 🙂
Books are the window to your imagination. I’m not sure where we would be without them! Thanks for opening the window to your world through these photos.
I love those faces on the rocks, so clever and charming.
