Even though I’ve chosen a similar title before, I think “How to Choose a Post Title” is a blogging topic useful enough to revisit.
Do you agree, dear readers? How do you choose a title for a post, or for anything else you create?
Obviously, there’s no single right way to do so. One technique is to consider the images you want to include in a post for possible title candidates. For example, today I’m considering the following post titles:

- “Unlikely Friendships”

- “The Best Bostonians of All Time”

- “Enjoy Life’s Simple Pleasures”

- “Wisdom/Mistakes”
- “Fake It Until You Make It”

- “That’s Foolish!”
Now this may be foolish, but I have a lot of trouble making decisions, especially when there are so many good choices.
Actually, “Making Decisions” might be another good post title.
Whenever I struggle with decisions, it helps me to ask for assistance from others. Therefore, which title would you choose for a post like this one, based on all the other photos I took yesterday?

I hope you choose to let me know your choice, in a comment below.
Choice thanks to all who helped me create today’s post, including my son Aaron’s classmate Emma, shown holding the guinea pig (which my boyfriend Michael titled “Cheryl.”) And special thanks to you — of course! — for choosing to visit here, today.
When I repost older cartoons I don’t just reblog but give it a different title. Have been using older ones as ideas are coming slow these days and have so many recent new followers they seems first time posts for them. Christmas regards…
Thanks for this choice comment, Carl! Christmas regards back at you.
My TOpoet blog titles are usually a line from one the poets I’m reviewing or from one of the writing samples I’ve included in the post – rarely do the titles relate to the photos (which they always do when I post photos on Tumblr),
Many thanks for choosing to let us know how you choose.
My own preference is to match a title to something I write about and choose a feature picture on the same subject. I don’t necessarily know what that will be, and it may well change as the day goes on. The title, therefore, does not come first. Your Michael has provided my choice for yours – Cheryl
Here’s my title for your comment — Derrick.
I like the ‘wisdom’ one. I really enjoyed the list you wrote in your group. ‘Making Decisions’ is also good.
Thanks for choosing to share your wisdom, Maria.
Unfortunately, I have inherited my father’s wacky sense of humor, so I choose blog post titles by the weird, random ideas that pop into my head when I think about the post’s main topic or most interesting tidbit. (I try to keep it toned down, and not too weird. Ha ha) What popped in my mind for this post of yours was:
“May I have your attention, please?” (A.K.A. Choosing a catchy blog post title.)
That’s probably way to long, but perhaps it could be tweaked into something usable. 🙂
You had an interesting variety of photos. The guinea pig is adorable!
I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for following my blog! I hope if you can find the time that you will stop by my page called “Reasons to Smile” and leave a comment. It’s a list of things people are thankful for, just to encourage each other. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I am fortunate that you dropped by! Thanks for your lovely thoughts (and I did visit your page).
it’s amazing all the titles
presented here, Ann!
i await voices
that come
to my head 🙂
I await your voice
and am grateful
whenever I hear it.
I like the “making decisions” one, I can see it as one you would use.
Luis
I’m glad I made the decision to choose you as my dentist, Dr. Del Castillo!
Any of the available choices would be good for my purposes. I chose, over ten years and nearly a couple thousand posts ago, to dodge the entire issue…. My blog titles have only two characteristics; first, they must make no sense, in a Real sense. Second, they must have no connection, other than accidental, to what is posted in the blog….
That’s it…. I make it up, from out of my imagination, every day, BEFORE writing the post…..
Makes it easy, and draws people with its weirdness….
Works for me…..
😉
gigoid, the dubious
😎
I choose to say I’m glad you do what works for you, gigoid.
Feel Alive!
I feel it!
Umm – I have a terrible time coming up with witty, catchy titles. How about – “The Wisdom of Simple Pleasures” ?
or
“Why are we allowing our young children, who are in the midst of a major speech development phase to watch a fluffy red Muppet with a significant speech impediment?” That has always puzzled me!!!!
I had a wonderful time reading your catchy titles here, SD!
Maybe Ann’s Christmas walk 🙂
I love that you chose to read and comment, Irene. <3
sometimes the titles com to me as I am writing, sometimes I try to make them funny, sometimes they are serious. Pets are Best I would choose fro the photos I see in this post- love that little gray guinea pig
You’re the best, Lisa!

Love the unlikely animal friends!
Love your comments, Sunny! It’s unlikely that I’ll miss one of them for several months, but that happened with this one.
Visual thoughts!!! that’s my choice 🙂
I would never choose to ignore somebody thoughts or comments, but I missed this choice comment of yours until today! My gratitude and my apologies.
It’s fine 🙂 Thank you 🙂
Thank you!
🙂
I’m going to with “Decisions” on its own. Not Making decisions. That way someone who isn’t wondering about making a decision is included as an option.
Great decision. I’m glad you chose this post and that title.
And you reminded me of an old poem of mine that was simply entitled “Silences “but it could have been “Demons”

This is on a blocked site but it is easy for you to ask and I will open the door for you.
Now I’m glad you choose to open that door for me and I look forward to reading your poem.
Done! Door’s open.
Thanks for opening up like that.
you’re welcome
