I better keep it real — or whatever — by immediately confessing to you that I LOVE The Steely Dan tune “Pixeleen.”
I better keep it real — or whatever — by telling you that, before today, I hadn’t figured out a way to work that song into a post.
I better keep it real — or whatever — by sharing my surprise at my inability to use that song before in any of my 871 previous daily posts, since
Better keep it real — or whatever
is a lyric from “Pixeleen” and could be a motto for this blog.
I better keep it real — or whatever — by telling you that there are other lyrics in “Pixeleen” I could have used as titles for previous posts, including
Dream deep.
Just a girl in girlie trouble.
Can we cut to the chase?
I better keep it real — or whatever — by showing you why I decided to use “Pixeleen” and this post title, today:

I better keep it real — or whatever — by admitting to you that once I’ve chosen a theme for a blog post that keeps it real (or whatever), I include a whole bunch of photos I’ve taken the day before that keep the post real — or whatever.
I better keep it real — or whatever — by admitting that yesterday I facilitated two therapy groups (using some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques) at my workplace, which is located near Boston’s Fenway Park.
Did I keep it real — or whatever — in today’s blog post?
Real thanks (or whatever) to all who helped me create this whatever post and to you — of course! — for keeping it real, here and now.

Wonderful post and yes, you kept it very real… those are some great shots showing very real people and things! Excellent!
I love the way you keep it real … it makes my life better!
Ann you always keep it real and remind us we can keep it real by pushing negativity away. Love the lily of the valley and I’m going to keep it real by cutting some of the ones in my backyard to bring inside.
I love the lily of the valley too, Lisa, and I love the way you keep it real, every day.
I really want you to know it’s really Friday – and that upon the quivering cusp of a three-day I’ve really, really been looking forward to for quite some time – REALLY!
I believe you! Really!
Ann, which is the “double standard” method in the list for antidotes for unhelpful thoughts?
Oh, thanks, Maria! I forgot to link to my list of antidotes, which has an explanation. The double standard method is to recognize how you might forgive certain behaviors in somebody else but not in yourself.
Hmm. Food for thought.
Yay! It’s keeping-it-real Maureen!
There! I edited the post and added a link. Many thanks, Maria!
This is so helpful to keep at hand.
Love this Ann. Keep on keeping it real … AND whatever 😉
Love this comment AND you, Val.
Ann, keeping it real is one of my major goals in life! Loved this post.
Beth, I love that you kept it real by reading and commenting. Thank you!
I must keep it real. I have never listened to Steely Dan before and now I’m listening to Pixeleeen asking, “Where have you been all my life?” The only thing that could make this a better way to start the morning would be Steely Dan playing with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Keeping it real, Christopher, I can’t imagine not keeping it real with Steely Dan for over 40 years of my life. Here’s Steely Dan keeping it reel(in’):
I love Lilly of the valley. They don’t grow in the desert southwest. Glad the water is keeping them real.
I’m glad that many things have kept you real, Emilie.
Keeping it real. Thought you might like this one. https://vanbytheriver.wordpress.com/2014/11/29/lily-of-the-valley/ ☺ Van
I loved that, Van. Thanks for keeping it real with lily of the valley.
They say that the sense of smell evokes the most vivid memories. This flower is special to me. <3
It’s really inspiring to see Fenway in the light of your eyes during the Boston night, Ann. Steely Dan every day motivates me as well.
I’m keeping it real when I say you always keep it real, Mark, which really lights up my eyes.
One of the things I love about coming here is you always keep it real, or whatever, Ann!
Realness is who you are.
Really, Louise? That’s keeping me real happy.
Lily of the valley… so real, so beautiful.
Thank you for this real and beautiful comment, Hilary.
That tree painting is soooo cool
For real, so are you.
What a lovely thing to say 🙂
Ann, I suddenly wish I had a box of crayons and really big paper – just keeping it real! <3
Diana xo
That is keeping it astonishingly real, Diana, since that’s EXACTLY what we did in my evening group. Thanks for being so creatively colorful here.
xo
I’m going to have to try harder if I want to keep things real.

These dreams don’t seem too real
Thanks for keeping it surreal, Maria!

Thanks for continuing to keep it real here, Maria!
I try to keep it real by focussing on what is possible in my life.
Great way to keep it real, Robert. Glad you’re keeping it real here.
